For When Friends Hurt You...

And I've known you,
For so long,
You confided in me,
I was your friend,
Your closest.

But you didn't think that way,
Did you?
I couldn't picture it before,
But I'm guessing you did?

You say you miss me,
That we should see each other more often,
That we are such close friends,
That you genuinely liked being around me,
And all became apparent,
When I realized.

When I see you,
All of you,
I make too many excuses,
For why I wasn't there,
Saving something that's already gone,
Is like trying to turn on a light when there is no bulb.

So now I am done,
I'm finished,
I'm fed up.
With all of your excuses,
You people really don't seem phased.
After knowing you for decades,
You wouldn't do this to me,
You would love me and like me,
But not out of pity.

What was once a few steps now takes longer strides,
The distance between us,
It's elongating, it's far.
You made me feel lonely,
You made me feel worse,
But now my mind is tranquil,
Without all of you- life's a bliss.
