Being married to Gerald was a blessing and a curse. The beautiful and damned Daniella. What a title for a Rolling Stones cover. I looked to my son who had his father's eyes. Eyes I could barely look at now.
Book 1: Drifting Back
Started November 17...
I glanced to the clock before grabbing my phone. Ashley was packing our things to go to the festival where we'd both perform. I'd seen Kevin a handful of times in the past months, but he wasn't a fan of Ashley. He wasn't a fan of either of us lately. I knew I started to turn out like my father, but it didn't seem worth fixing. Then there was Danny. She'd been on my mind when I was sober. We'd been separated nearly a year at this point. I changed to her Instagram page and ran my thumb over the photo. She was getting married to him. Having her perfect life finally that she's wished for originally. I swallowed the lump in my throat before turning my phone screen off.

I wanted her back and I wasn't going to lie. Then again there was no turning back the decisions I had made. I sat up and looked to my nightstands, snorting a bit of coke before I even got out of bed. Ashley had redesigned some of the house. Graffiti as I had expected and destroyed somethings. It wasn't mature looking, but then again I wasn't a mature person. Even my fans knew I had changed and probably not for the better.
"You ready daddy?" I just nodded and reached for a cigarette. I managed to get dressed without burning my clothes or myself. My duffle was already packed and by the door.
The flight to our destination was short, my mind zoned out. When we landed the drive to the desert was just us. Kehlani and the others were already there. Yet I didn't expect when I saw when we arrived to the artists lounge.
Lani was laughing with Danny and Ellie like old time. Grady was chatting James and then there was Aaron her new man. He wore a baggy t-shirt and torn jeans. He looked so fucking calm and relaxed and here I was tense wanting another hit. He fit right in with Danny and I's friends.
"We can go chill somewhere else if you want G." Ashley whispered and I shook my head. I wandered over to Marty and grinned as we hugged before bullshitting. Danny didn't even notice me yet, her back to where I was sitting. Aaron glanced to me, but he didn't even seem to know me. Dare I say I was insulted.
A few minutes later him and James wandered over to the girls and he pulled Danny into his arms. She seemed to melt right then in there. Her body just sinking into his embrace as he buried his head between her head and shoulder. Lani and Ellie nearly drooling over the two. Then I saw it.
Ellie reached out to Danny's stomach and I nearly twitched. Marty was talking, but I wasn't listening. Danny laughed and I saw Aaron place a hand on her stomach. Her biggest wish granted. One I couldn't give her. She and Aaron left with Grady and Ellie. Stealing my best friends of course. Lani saw me and wandered over, glaring at Hasley.
"Can we talk?"
"Yeah."
"Without anyone. Come on." She motioned to the exit of the lounge and started walking. I sighed and followed after, lighting a blunt. "Danny she's happy."
"How far along is she?" I mumbled.
" almost five months."
"When she went away with him that week I was suppose to have Kevin. Classy of her." I scoffed and Lani shook her head.
"Classy of you to fly off to Asia and leave your son. How frequently do you actually spend time with him. Kevin talks non-stop about the trips he takes with Aaron. I haven't heard him say your name Gerald. Where you at?!" She raised her hands in the air. " You snort coke more than you breath air!" I shrugged and offered her a blunt before she sighed and took it. I glanced around seeing Danny in the distance. She was dancing with him and I leaned against the building, hitting my bottom lip. A smile was across her lips and their foreheads pressed together.
"I hate how fucking happy she is Lani. I thought she'd be my girl forever you know? Even when I fucked up she'd be there."
"She was Gerald. For years. Don't you think she deserves this much?" She nearly whispered it and I nodded feeling my eyes water. I gave my queen up for fun and games. She was gone, dancing with another man and starting a family with him.
" She deserves the world. A queen." I mumbled and took the blunt, taking a drag. I was glad I didn't have to perform tonight. I wandered around with Lani for a bit before settling down by myself to eat some tacos. Ashley was off partying and I couldn't be bothered.
"You're Gerald right?" I glanced up and sat my taco down as I chewed.
" You must be Aaron. Here I thought I could avoid you this whole event." I sat back and cleared my throat. He motioned to the empty spot on the bench across from me and I nodded. " Come to gloat?"
"No actually. I'm not that kind of person." He sat down and glanced around. "I wanted to check on you for Daniella. You two may be separated, but your still Kevin's father. She saw you earlier and all... Said you looked sick. She won't admit she's worried, but she is and I can tell." This guy was too nice. I hated how perfect and nice he came off.
"I'm fine." He sighed and stood, raising his hands in defense.
"It's fine. I get you don't want to talk to me, but understand that your hurting your son. Don't think he doesn't miss you at all." He started walking away.
" Where is he?"
"He's with your mother. Another person concerned about you." He glanced back at me with such sympathy. I looked down at my tacos and took another bite before cursing under my breath. I hated how right he was and it killed me even more.
