Question: Biggest Day of Daniella's life?

Daniella POV

Kevin was feeling better and today was the big day. Probably the second biggest day of my life. Anyone could probably guess the biggest. Mama Gillum was watching him thankfully leaving my mind to focus on the hell set before me.

" You ready love?" I looked to Zayn wearing an all black suit, his glasses covering most of his face. I nodded before looking towards the court house.

"As ready as I'll ever be darling." He got out and came around, opening my door for me before the cameras swarmed us. His arm tightened around me, guiding me towards the building as I hid my face from the cameras. My mind never even registered their questions. It felt like breath of fresh air getting inside the building. That was until I saw my apparent half sister and demon of a father right through security.

"I wasn't trying to join the satanic ritual party over there." I glanced to my left, funny enough Gerald was wearing an all black suit, a toothpick between his lips. "Then again I didn't really wanna see you either." I bit the inside of my cheek before walking to security and letting them go through my purse. Gerald acting in public was always painful. Not because he was bad, but because how believable the dark side of him could be towards me.

I got my bag back and looped arms with Zayn as we walked down the halls towards the court room. I felt like I couldn't breath the closer we got.

"You'll do fine. If you need me I'll be right in the crowd. Remember what Burrows said. You gotta play the part." He dug in his pocket and handed me the ring. "Trust me I'm not a fan of it either." I nodded and slipped the ring onto my ring finger. We had a story planned, Burrows said it was the perfect way to protect us even more. The story was Gerald and I split so I could be with Zayn. Then Zayn proposed. Though no one let Gerald in on this lie.

Maybe because Burrows wants the authentic reaction from him. He'd surely get what he wanted in that case. I swallowed the lump in my throat and walked into the court room. Memories came flooding back. Memories off the court cases my mother went to, my kidnapping, it all hit me like a brick wall. I felt myself shaking as I walked to the table and sat beside Burrows looking at the giant rock on my finger. It was a rental, how fitting for it all.

" Ready Miss Evans?"

"As I can be." I looked to see my father walking into the courtroom. Gerald was sitting in the middle and Zayn right behind me. I could already picture Gerald possibly strangling Zayn.

"All rise for the honorable Judge West." I zoned it all out until I was called up. I felt like I was going to faint, I kept digging my nails into my palms.

"Miss Evans. According to your divorce papers dated a month before my client was sold the business what happened?"

"I filed for divorce."

"I mean why did you file after all it seems a bit suspicious in the timing."

"I-um- I filed for a divorce because I was unhappy. I loved someone else." My father's lawyer looked at my hand before waving his hand.

"That's all the questions I have for her." I watched Burrows stand and approach.

"Miss Evans. What my opponent failed to ask once he saw your hand. You and Mr.Malik are engaged to marry?"

"Yes." I could hear my heart beat in my ears.

"Proof your honor. The marriage was long over." I felt so numb walking down from that stand. I found Gerald's eyes on me. He was holding back tears behind an angry demeanor. His fist clenched that was resting along the back of his seat. I sat down and kept digging my nails into my palms until we were dismissed for the jury to deliberate.

We all crowded into the lobby, I sat down in the corner of the room looking at the marks on my hands. They stung probably less than the words Gerald heard. Yet he sat next to me, Zayn leaning against the wall.

"I know I can't be seen really talking to you. I don't even want to talk to you."

"Gerald-"

"Don't." He looked at me and in his eyes it seemed like he was lost. Glossy dark hues and tense jawline. I dug in my purse and handed him the receipt to the ring. He scanned it over and handed it back before standing. Like prey he closed in on Zayn and pointed his finger.

"You're fucking lucky. Otherwise I would have called up some old family member and you'd be done mate ." He walked away, exhaling a long breath with his hands going through his hair. Zayn sat down and leaned back.

" You weren't kidding about dark Gerald. Very protective of his queen."

"Protective in general." I mumbled I shoved the receipt in my purse before looking to him. "I wish I could say more of a thank you. For putting your life on hold for me in a way. Another possible 3 months."

"Its destroy him. Destroying you." He took my hand and gave it a squeeze.

" Like he said... I wish we could just runaway." I looked at his tattoo hand coiled over mind. "I think that's what I'm gonna do. Go back to the bay for a bit. I need a break." Burrows started coming over and I squeezed his hand harder.

"The jury has reached a verdict."

"Already?" He nodded and motioned for us all to go back into the court room. My heart was pounding worse than before. Yet relief.

"We the jury find in favour of Daniella Evans." I glanced back and the one person I wanted to hug was long gone. All I did was flash a smile at Zayn.

A part of me felt this company wasn't even worth it without my king by my side. A queen wasn't a queen without her king.
