As we exit Shawn and Charlie's apartment into the brisk October air, I let out a small shiver and rub my arms. The cool air seems to cut right through my thin sweater. Charlie is quick to notice this.
"Cold?" He asks.
"Yeah, a little, I didn't bring a jacket." I admit.
He immediately shuffles out of his own jacket and drapes it across my shoulders.
"Oh no, Charlie, you don't have to do that." I try to take his jacket off and give it back to him, but he prevents me from doing so by draping his own arm across my shoulders as well, as if to warm me up.
He grins widely, "Better?"
I can't help but smile back at his actions. "Yeah, thanks."
We walk in silence for a few moments, Charlies arm around me. It was peaceful.
"So, what are you majoring in?" Charlie breaks the peaceful silence.
"Contemporary Dance at the Conservatory. Just taking a few extra elective classes for fun." I tell him, referring to the class that we have together.
"Oh, you're a dancer! That's really cool." He gets excited.
"Yeah, I am. I've been dancing for pretty much my whole life." I begin to open up and tell Charlie about myself, and the reasons why I dance. The whole time I speak, he listens intently.
"Well, maybe you could dance for me sometime." He smirks, and then after realizing that it sounded like he wants me to strip for him, his face falls and he panics. I immediately bust up laughing.
"NO. That's not what I meant, and you know it Mia Hendricks." Even though he's trying to convince me, he's also trying his hardest to hold back his smile.
"Mm-hmmmm." I hum, just wanting to watch him squirm.
"Whatever Mia." He finally lets his laughter out.
As we reach the door to my dorm in the student accomodation, Charlie and I are both still giggling like idiots.
"Thanks for helping me with my homework, even though I'm easily distracted. I really appreciate it." He thanks me.
I can't help but crack a smile, and for some reason, those stupid butterflies are back. Oh my gosh, Mia. Cool your shit, it was just studying with a classmate. You have a boyfriend!
The butterflies don't leave, they only intensify. I feel like I know what Charlie is waiting to do, but I can't let him kiss me. I can't let him think that it is even an option. I'm in a relationship for crying out loud.
"No problem! I'm glad I could help. I better get inside though, I need to call my boyfriend." I cringe at my own words. Jesus. I couldn't just drop a subtle hint could I?
Charlie's face falls at the last part of my sentence, but he tries to hide it. "Okay, well I'll see you in class I guess."
"Yup, see you then." I want to die I want to die I want to die.
Charlie turns and walks back in the direction of his apartment.
I sigh, very audibly, after going inside and shutting the door behind me. I look down, and notice I still had Charlie's jacket on. He's too far away now for me to track down, I'll just give it back to him tomorrow.
Camila suddenly appears from the bathroom. "Trouble in paradise?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about that super loud groan that you made. I could hear it over the sound of the toilet flushing. You're obviously frustrated." She flips her hair as if she knows everything.
