The three months that Keith had been dreading passed by quicker than he expected, and your due date was closing in on you. In fact, you were due in exactly three days, that's why you were incredibly nervous when Keith and the other paladins, Lance, Allura, Pidge and Hunk, left on a mission. The fact that Keith decided to chase Lotor, after Lotor retreated, making you even more nervous.

You convinced yourself that everything would be okay. After all it had to be. Keith would never let anything happen to him or his team, especially because you'll be having your baby so soon. Keith knows that he has to be careful, that he can't afford to do something super dangerous. But you were still scared, your stomach was still forming that pit of unease.

Your eyes never left the monitors, watching each and everyone of the paladins' moves. You clearly heard each and every complaint or concern Lance, Allura, Hunk and Pidge had, and you heard even clearer the irritated responses Keith had. This wasn't the way a leader was supposed to lead his team; You and Keith both knew that, but this was only way he did know how to lead a team. Keith was never considered a leader, so he's never been in this position of responsibility before, and to be honest he was terrified. Terrified of getting those he cared for hurt or worse, killed.  That was part of the reason Keith had refused to take the leadership position, the other part being because he refused to accept the fact that Shiro may never come back.

You watched as someone flew a fighter out of Lotor's ship. 'Wait, what are those Galra planning? It doesn't make any sense to send out a single fighter against  Voltron.' You thought, your eyebrows scrunching up in confusion. "It has to be some kind of trap." You breathed, a trap being the only conclusion you could logically come to.

The fighter flew right into what looked like a big clump of fog floating in space. 'What is-' You thoughts were interrupted as you realized what Lotor had planned. "Coran! Tell the paladins to not follow! It's a trap!" You exclaimed, but you were too late. All five of the lions followed right in, unknowing of the danger they just put themselves in. "Try contacting them! Now!" You ordered, not even giving Coran the chance to reprimand you about being up on your feet. One of your hands instinctively rested on the bulge at your midsection, you could feel the baby kicking at your hand. Tears pricked at your eyes as your hope shattered more and more with each attempt at contacting one of the paladins. If only you had noticed the fog-like substance sooner. If only you had figured the plan out sooner. If only you could have warned them sooner-.

Your eyes widened as your pants became suspiciously wet. "Oh no. Nononononono. You can't come yet. Not now." You said to your bulging stomach. That's when the contractions started. You hissed in pain, wanting nothing more than to just lie down and curl up. "Huh? What are you- AHHH THE BABY'S COMING!" Coran exclaimed after having fully turned around. "No shit Sherlock." You grumbled, the contraction lightening up a bit. "W-we've got to get you to the hospital wing." He said, cautiously walking over to you and wrapping an arm around your shoulder. "Yeah, that'd be a smart idea." You grunted, another contraction coming on in full force. Slowly but surely the two of you made your way to the hospital wing.

Two hours later Coran was placing your and Keith's bundled up baby, a baby girl, in your arms. Tears of joy ran down your cheeks, after two long painful and sweaty hours of labor your baby girl was in you arms. Oh only if Keith were here then the moment would be perfect. In those two hours of labor you had wanted nothing more than for Keith to be by your side. You could have held his hand as you were in pain, and he could have whispered reassuring things to you as you felt scared.

You swallowed a lump in your throat as you looked down at your beautiful baby girl. From what you could see she had Keith's hair and eyes and your skin tone. For as long as you could remember you had wanted to have a baby girl, and now that day has finally come, granted it was sooner than you had expected but you were still more than overjoyed.

Soon your tears of joy  transferred to a mixture of tears of joy and fear. What was going on? Where was Keith? Was he okay? What about the others? Are they okay too? Soon enough all you could do was worry about your comrades and lover. "Keith, where are you?" You whispered low enough that Coran couldn't have heard it. "Where is everyone?" Your eyes widened slightly at the sound of Lance's voice. "I don't know. Coran? (Y/n)?" Allura replied. "(Y/n)? (Y/n) where are you?" Keith called, you could tell he was worried. "I'll go get them." Coran said, starting to step out of the room. "Please, can you only let Keith in for now." You called after him, getting a nod in response.

You sat in silence for a moment, admiring your child. Soon enough you heard rapid footsteps making there way to the room you were in. Moments later the door was being thrown open by Keith. "Oh God." He whispered, walking over carefully and quietly, something he hadn't been doing moments earlier. "Oh God, (Y/n). I'm so sorry I wasn't here. I should have been." Keith whispered, sitting down gently next to you on the bed. "It's alright, I understand. Would you like to hold her?" You asked, changing subjects and shifting slightly to hand you precious bundle of joy over to her father. "Her? We have a baby girl?" He breathed in an awestruck manner, holding the baby like she was a porcelain doll.

"So, what should we name her?" You asked, placing a hand over Keith's. "What do you think about Micaela?" Keith asked with a smile. "Micaela. Micaela. Micaela." You whispered, testing the name out. "That's it. Our baby girl's name is Micaela." You decided with a smile and nod. "This is sweet and all, but when will get to meet the little lady of the hour." Lance said with a smirk, peeking his head from the crack in the opened door. "Lance! Don't be rude!" Allura exclaimed, slapping the guy upside the head harshly. You couldn't help but giggle. "Yeah, yeah. Come in everyone. Come in. Meet Micaela Kogane." You said with a smile. You couldn't have asked for a greater ending for the day.
