Did anybody really expect a spinoff game from Volition four years after the release of Saints Row IV? Me neither.
But nevertheless, here I am, dropping some information about the recent released game Agents Of Mayhem. Now I got this game a few hours ago, so personally, I don't find it fair to rate a game having played very little of what's on offer.
Buy don't moan, I'll be reviewing this soon enough, just don't expect this kinda thing very often. I'm only doing it to vary my content a bit and provide insight to this new game.
Gameplay
It's a open world game where you can control a multitude of different characters, such as Joule, Rama and even Oleg from Saints. There are 12 in total. Each one have their own unique play style and abilities.
Much like in fighting games, you gradually progress a bar and when it gets full. Your agent performs a devastating special move, some are quite broken and can easily slaughter early game enemies.
Agents Of Mayhem is a very fast-paced game, relying on the player to be on the ball almost all the time. So if you wanna play games to relax and not really care, this might not be for you.
Thankfully, the game offers more then just the main storyline, it also has Unlock Missions. Where you get new agents for completing them. Each Agent has a Personal Mission, very similar with SR4's loyalty missions. These delve deep into the lore of all 12 Agents.
Of course, doing the main missions grant you rewards. Cash, Skills, Gadgets and XP. You can also customise the Agents and their weapons. Which is a nice touch.
Setting
Don't worry, this'll be brief. It's set in a futuristic version of South Korea, with two armies going head to head for control over it. There's our team, M.A.Y.H.E.M. , the good guys wearing purple. While the baddies are known as L.E.I.G.O.N.
If you're curious as to where it fits into the Saints Row timeline, it's set after SR4's DLC, Gat Out Of Hell.
Some References
If you've played a game developed by Volition, you'll know they have easter eggs put in everywhere. Agents Of Mayhem is obviously no different. But I won't say what they are, because I'm that cruel that I'm forcing you to watch vids on the references or even grab it from store shelves.
I'll cover more in my review, although don't expect that soon...
