This is part two of Echo with Scotty (duh), but I blended it with another idea I had. I hope you guys don't mind it too much haha
"I've never beamed three people from two targets onto one pad before."
You let out a winded laugh as you helped one of your crew mates off the landing pad, Kirk close behind.
"Scotty, dear, your excitement on that prospect is slightly unnerving." You handed your wounded friend to a medical officer, leaving you to collapse on the ground.
Scotty shot up from his seat, tossing his head set aside. He helped you up, keeping his arm around you as he walked with you out of the transporter room and to sick bay. He pecked your temple twice, smiling against your skin.
"You were brilliant out there."
You chuckled, wincing as you hobbled along side him. "Just doing my job. Thanks for getting us out of there."
"Just between you and me," Scotty held you close as he looked around as if making sure no one was listening, "it was a wee bit nerve wracking to have to concentrate so hard to not lose my wife."
You smacked his chest lightly with the back of your hand. "Your captain was there too, he's a bit more important than I am."
Scotty growled. "Not to me, he isn't. Besides," he kissed your forehead lightly before continuing on down the hallway to the med bay to get you checked, "he's not holding my own flesh and blood."
You smiled, looking down at your slightly bulging stomach. "Now wouldn't that be a story." Suddenly your eyes widened and you looked up at your husband. "Penny. How is she?"
Scotty gave you blank look, shrugging one shoulder. "Fine, I assume."
You shook your head as you entered the med-bay, Scotty directing you to a bio-bed to sit down on. "Scotty, we ended on a fight before I left, remember."
"Sure."
You rolled your eyes. "So I take it you hadn't talked to her like I asked you to."
Scotty puffed his chest out, raising his brows in gentle defense. "I was a wee bit busy saving my wife from certain death. I'm sure Penny is just in her room, packing. She's a big girl."
You let out a breath and laid down, closing your eyes as you rested your hand on your belly. "Monty, dear, would you please go talk to our daughter. She's leaving tomorrow and I don't want her having a vendetta against us as she trains to be a weapons expert."
Scotty let out a barking laugh. "She'd make one hell of a commander." He leaned over and kissed your forehead lightly, stroking some of your hair back. "Alright, dear, I'll go calm the fiery lass."
You reached up and stroked his face. "Thank you, Mr. Scott."
"My pleasure Mrs. Scott." He winked then left to go find his pouting daughter.
Scotty wasn't worried about Penny. She was maturing well, strikingly beautiful, and a true Scotsman despite having never been to Scotland. For that, Scotty was proud. But now he was worried. He checked her room, the mess hall, and the rec center but Penny was nowhere in sight. He was about to rush back to you and start freaking out when he passed a pathway to the engine room and overheard something.
Quiet, echoing cries.
His heart dropped as he drew closer to the sound, his surroundings quickly becoming familiar. The three of you hadn't been to the little generator room in almost ten years. Sure, Penny would hide in there from time to time when she was playing with the other children on the ship. But she was embarrassed about playing the echoing game, so she stopped.
