Back to school is just around the corner for me and what better thing to do than a brand new start! Now it's the time to start working towards the person you've always wanted to be. So use this opportunity to change your life. Here are habits you can pick up in the new school year to feel like a bad bitch.
Habit #1
Drink more water
Not only is water good for your skin, but it also helps remove toxins from your body. Water helps with acne, dry skin/lips and suppresses hunger.
Personally, I started drinking more water this summer and I can tell you that there is a big difference in the quality of my skin. My pores look a lot smaller and my skin is glowing. Of course, I do still get the occasional acne spot but that's something inevitable. However, water has helped tremendously as my breakouts now heal faster.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab a water bottle and start drinking!
Habit #2
Work out regularly
If you are like me, you go through periods of time when you workout daily and then give it up for months at a time. Work towards defeating that habit by working out regularly. Start small if you need to, but make sure you stick to it.
All you need to do is find something you enjoy and schedule it in your everyday life, like you would a school lesson and you'll be fine.
Working out does not only help you get in the best shape of your life, but also it helps with your mood, your mental health and it can be a way of helping with stress that builds up every day!
Habit #3
Improving your grades
Improving grades is something we strive for every year but this time, make it different. Study more, finish and turn in homework on time, work on projects for extra credit, start early and participate.
You don't have to be the best in your class, just be better than you were yesterday or try to keep up the good work if you have been doing good lately.
Habit #4
Be more social
This is definitely something to work on, if you feel like you need more friends or just want to hang out with a different crowd. Becoming more social does not mean abandoning your old friends, just broadening your friend group a bit.
Try to be more friendly and open to all kinds of people, even those with whom you wouldn't normally hang out with and see what happens. In the end, you have nothing to lose if you go out with a few new people. Even if you don't have the time of your life, you can still say that you tried something new.
Habit #5
Start a new hobby
This can be really anything you want it to be, from a sport, to arts. There are so many classes you can take in your local gym or even at art galleries. Some museums even have classes on art, writing and poetry that you can take to broaden your horizons.
If you don't feel like joining a class, you can try visiting a new museum every month. This way, you will learn something new and since you are the one picking the museums or galleries, you will definitely not get bored.
There are also other ideas, like online courses, diy's or projects you can take up at home that cost from a few dollars to nothing.
Habit #6
Learn something new
You can pick up a new language that you've always wanted to learn or start an instrument. Again, there are plenty of classes online and you will definitely find something that interests you.
And remember to check out things your school has to offer, you may be surprised at the activities that some of the clubs include or at the language courses offered. For example, my school has Chinese lessons that you can take once a week by paying some extra money. Take advantage of the things your school has to offer and maybe you can make some new friends as well.
You could even take up the habit of learning one new thing each day and writing it down.
Habit #7
Help others
One thing that I want to do in the new school year, is try to help others more. That means anything from volunteering to just helping out friends. There is an animal shelter in my neighborhood that I want to look into but there are opportunities for volunteers everywhere you look.
If you don't have the time required, you can alway try and do a small act of kindness every week. From walking your friend's dog while she's away, to helping an old neighbor with carrying the groceries, there are so many ways to help others!
