Once a dog has been out on the wilderness of its own for too long it will become a rabid beast.
You may find a dog along the way. You'll take it with you, but in a moment things can change. Dogs will have picked up many viruses and if you feed them after they have gone so long without food: they will bite you, transmitting a virus to your body.
The zombie virus is a dogs means of Rabies.
Rabies is the destruction of a dogs calmer sides. It will make them become beasts, raging with anger. They'll snap at anything.
If you have food, they will want it all.
But they could also save your life. They could aid you in making distractions for a herd of zombies. If you have a dog at home, healthy and in good condition, take it with you. It'll be your lifeline.
