"I dare you,"
He said to me with determination in his eyes.
"I dare you to try and make me believe those words that are coming out of your mouth. If you succeed then I'll change my ways."
"And what happens if I don't?"
He smirked at me, revealing h...

Zamzam Amin
I let out a sigh as I sat down in the cafeteria and grabbed my favorite copy of the Quran that I own. This whole entire week has been a really stressful one for everyone in my family considering that Abdirahman's wedding is only a couple of days from now. Just read the Quran Zam, it always makes you feel better, I thought to myself as I opened up the pages. I then flipped to one of my favorite Surahs which was Surah Al Faj. As I was reading it, I couldn't help but feel like someone was watching me.
Slowly turning around, I noticed that two boys were staring at me. One of them quickly looked away and the other just continued to stare at me with an annoying smirk on his features. Wtf? Is there something on my face or does that guy have a staring problem?! "Hey there." The guy said as he approached me. "Do you want something or do you just enjoy staring at people?" I retorted with a fake smile plastered on my face. I really don't have the patience for people like him. "Actually now that you asked, I do. You see you're the only girl in this school who hasn't tried to flirt with me. Why is that?" He questioned as he sat across from me.
I couldn't help but scoff. Who does this guy think he is? "And you are..?" I trailed.
"I'm Adam Mathews." He stated.
"And I'm not interested." I got up and walked away.

Abdirahman Amin
I can do this, I thought to myself as I ran my hands through my hair nervously. I had called my parents into the living room so that I could talk to them about Ihsan and how I want to marry her. This girl is everything I have ever wanted in a woman and so much more. Whenever I think of her I can't fight the stupid smile that comes on my face. I think I knew that she was the one for me the first day that I met her. We went to the same university and this man was bothering her. At first I was going to interject and help but she beat me to the punch.

She immediately stood up for herself and made the man apologize on the spot. It was something about the way she carried herself that instantly attracted me to her. Then we started talking and I fell for her amazing personality that shined so brightly. Look at me, I sound like a sap. "Salam sweetie, what's up?" Mama asked as she smiled back at me.
"Yeah, what's all the commotion about?" Baba added as he wrapped his arm around Mama.
I sat down across from them and played with my hands nervously. "I met this girl at school that I really really like and I want to marry her. Her name is Ihsan, she's a year younger than me and one of the smartest and kindest people I've ever met. She's the one that I want to make my wife and I know what you guys are probably thinking that I'm too young and probably am not ready for marriage. But I know that I am and I would love if you guys gave me your blessings." I said all in one breath. I then slowly looked back up at them to see the looks on their faces.
Mama had her hands covering her face as she began to cry. "Come on, Ma. Please don't cry." I said as I crouched in front of her and wiped her tears away. "If you don't want me to marry then I won't." I tried to reassure her. She shook her head back and forth as she hugged me tightly.
"No my son, these are tears of joy! I can see the you love this girl and want to do things the right way. How can we ever refuse that?" She responded while wiping her tears away.
"We're proud of you son." Baba added as he joined our hug as well.
"So you guys approve?"
"Of course! Now we have to talk to her parents and formally ask her for her hand in marriage." Mama said as she let go of me. "We have so much that we have to do." She added excitedly as she got up.
Zamzam and Isa then walked inside and gave me hugs as well. "See? I told you they would approve!" My little brother exclaimed as he clapped me on my back. "I'm so excited for you to get married. Finally we can have another girl in the family!" Zamzam shouted as she started jumping up and down in happiness.
Now that I've imagined life with her, I can't imagine it without her nor do I want to.

Avon Becks
"Mom, I'm home!" I shouted as I threw my keys on the counter. As per usual my mother's no good boyfriend was here drinking a bottle of beer and putting his foot up on the coffee table as if he owned this place. "What the hell are you doing here!?" I shouted as I pushed his disgusting feet off of the furniture that my mother worked so hard to afford. "The fuck do you mean why am I here? I can be here if I want to." He snapped as he took another gulp of his BudLight.
"Get the hell out of here. Now!"
He got up off of the couch and stood in front of me, eyes staring me down. "Why don't you make me punk?" He pushed me, provoking me more and more by the second. I'm about to explode any moment now.
"Breathe in and out, Avon."
The words of my psychologist said rang in my ears.
"That's right cause you're a punk. Just like your punk ass father who never wanted to take responsibility for his actions. I guess the rotten apple doesn't fall far from the rotten tree, ayye?" He said as he let out a menacing chuckle, his breath hitting me in the face. Calm down Avon, I tried to hold myself back once again.
"Why don't you tell me what makes you so angry all the time?" She asked as she got out a notepad.
