Rejection

Koeun's POV
Okay so maybe I should have planned out what I was going to say before bringing Mark here, but let's just wing it since I already know I'm going to get rejected... Ah this is so depressing...

"S-so what d-do you want?" Mark stuttered. Why does he seem more nervous than me? I'm not that scary am I?

"I umm, I have something to tell you." I sighed, this was going to be painful...

Mark just nodded as he waited for me to continue. "Listen, this is going to be really surprising and it's gonna make us really awkward but I think you deserve to know." I started off carefully.

Mark continued to fidget with his fingers as he avoided my eyes. "I... I... I... can't do this..." I panicked, the words just wouldn't come out of my mouth.

I took in a deep breath and slowly released it to calm myself down. "You can do this Koeun!" I whispered to myself.

"Err are you okay?" Mark asked giving me a weird look. "Not at all, but I'll survive..." I mumbled.

"Let me try again. Mark, I think that I like... Got7!" I suddenly blurted out. Seriously what is wrong with me? How did 'you' turn into Got7?!

"Umm okay? I know that they're from our rival company JYP, but I don't really have a problem with you liking them." He said confused at my random confession.

"Wait, that's not what I meant to say." I groaned, why was I so tongue-twisted today?

"So what do you want to say then?" He asked. "We've been pretty close ever since we met, right?" I said trying to take a different approach.

"Well we are same-aged friends." Mark said, making me roll my eyes. "Yes, and sometimes friends can become more than just friends." I said hoping he would take the hint.

"Best friends?" He asked confused. "No, more than that." I said giving him another hint. "BFFs?" He asked, causing me to literally die inside, is he actually this stupid?

"I like you okay! Like a lot! Geez, do I really have to spell it out for you?" I exclaimed out of frustration.

"Oh." Mark said awkwardly. The truth was that he had known the whole time, but he just kept acting ignorant because he hoped that it wasn't true, but it looked like he couldn't avoid it anymore.

"And I know you're dating Herin so you're going to reject me but I just needed to tell you." I said still embarrassed from my sudden confession.

Mark hesitated before saying "Actually, I like you too Koeun."

I wish that's what he had said to me, but in reality that was far from it... (sorry for trolling ㅋㅋㅋ)

"I'm really sorry that it's turned out like this Koeun, but I hope you can understand that I only see you as a friend and I hope that we can remain as good friends, because I would hate for things to get awkward between us." Mark said honestly, while trying to let me down gently at the same time.

I nodded. After all, I was expecting him to say this, but after a few seconds my annoying teenage hormones decided to start up because before I even realised it, a single tear slowly rolled down my cheek.

I quickly wiped away the tear with the back of my hand, hoping that he hadn't noticed.

"Yah, are you crying?" He asked surprised and a little bit flustered as his eyes widened. Great, he noticed...

"No..." I mumbled before sniffling, which made it even more obvious.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know it would hurt you this much." He whispered as he pulled me into a hug. "I'm probably not the right person to be comforting you, but as your friend I hate seeing you upset." He continued speaking softly as I buried my head into his shoulder.

I'm not usually this emotional but Mark's kind words just made me fall apart even more...

After recovering, I pulled away. "Thank you Mark, I know I can always rely on you." I told him gratefully. "It's okay." He replied, before he let out a small laugh. "Aigoo, your eyes and face are all red, people are going to think that I've been bullying you!" He joked as he ruffled my hair, trying to cheer me up.

I laughed, "Yah, it is your fault though!" I joked in return. He smiled and was about to reply, when he suddenly saw something out of the corner of his eye and he immediately frowned.

"Herin." He just whispered her name before he started running after her, leaving me alone in the corridor. Oh no... what have I done?

Btw I can just imagine Mark being this really sweet and caring friend who will help anyone... 😌😍 I'd call him my bias but I also like everyone else's personalities haha I literally can't choose...
