How much work do I put into my books?
I could say, not that much, I just sit and write.. However that's not entirely true..
At least 40% on my day is spent thinking about what should happen on the boat trip.
I have been asking several people about conditions at the different oceans, I've even gone as far as to asking ship captains how long it would take to sail across the Indian Ocean on a cruise liner and on a yacht, and if it's even physically possible to sail in some places. I've asked about how the Suez Canal works and I've researched all the prices. I've researched the languages of all the countries on the coasts and the main religions and what they look like.
Last week I was skiing in Wakkani, Japan. And most of the time I was skiing I was writing a plan in my notes for the plot of 'what happened?' I know you technically shouldn't ski and use your phone at the same time but y'know, I wasn't that bad :p
So, all in all, I put so much work into these books. I like everything up to the last inch of the book to be realistic, for example, the head of Maker Studios is called Courtney Holt, there is a 70% chance of a terrorist attack in Morocco, they do speak Arabic, Tangler does have cream coloured houses and a road beside the beach-However deliberately in the boat trip I made one big error and if you are very clever you might have noticed it in the first chapter :) If you don't figure it out I'll tell you when the last chapter is out :)
