I was silent almost the whole ride home. Right after I couldn't physically see her, I started to get home sick. I missed California and I missed everyone over there. When I get home sick, it hits me real hard. I get so depressed and I mope around for days on end until something/someone helps me forget about it.
Right as I got into my room I locked the door and kicked off my shoes. I got ready for bed and put my pjs on. I wasn't tired at all. I just laid there and stared at the ceiling. I had homework due tomorrow but I honestly didn't care about that right now.
I was staring for what felt like 10 minutes when I felt my phone started to vibrate. Shawn was calling.
"Hm." I answered.
"You miss her already don't you?" My lower lip started to wobble.
"Yeah." My voice cracked. Silent tears started to roll down the sides of my face going into my hair.
"Want me to come over?" I chuckled as I wiped away one of the tears with my hands.
"Don't you have homework?" He scoffed.
"So? I can be bad if I wanna." I laughed.
"We both know you'll feel guilty if you don't turn it in on time." He scoffed again.
"Ha! Watch me missy!" I rolled my eyes and smiled.
"Why don't you bring your homework so we can do it together? I kinda have homework too." I got up from the bed and started to get everything out of my backpack.
"I mean, if you insist. I'll be there in 5." And he hung up. I shook my head and threw my phone on my bed.
And as he said, he was here in five minutes. I was on the floor with my homework on my lap as he walked through my door.
"How you doing?" Was the first thing he asked as he threw his bag on the floor and sat next to me.
"I don't know. I just miss California and everyone over there." I said as I was trying my hardest to focus on this math problem but the smell of Shawn caught me off guard. His cologne was super enticing.
"I know you do. When was the last time you went over there?" I shrugged. We go home every summer but I don't know how I could wait months before I'm able to go back again.
My 12th birthday was one for the books. It was one of the most best birthdays ever because my entire family was there. Including Shawn and Shawn's family.
It was at one of my favorite parks with all my cousins and we had a water balloon fight and all the adults were playing volleyball and it was just a great day.
"I mean, she's only a phone call away you know..." he sat down next to me.
"I know she is, but its not the same." I closed my book and laid my head on my bed behind me.
"Long distances suck ass but its only a matter of time before you see her again." He put his hand on my knee and patted it.
"Now c'mon I don't need a negative Nancy here. Get up." I grunted.
"Why do I have to get up? I was just up. I got comfortable, too bad." I said as I laid on the floor and practically just melted.
"No, get up." He said and got up.
"Why though..." Now he grunted. He grabbed my arm and tried to get me off the ground.
"Oh my god bro get up." He said and grabbed my other arm. I wasn't helping him get me off the floor. If anything I put more of my weight down.
