Chapter 72

Maui's POV

That evening...

    Ever since Moana and I found out that we're having a baby, we haven't had any alone time to ourselves really. I mean we appreciate the support from everyone in the village along with Tala and Dr. Raido, but sometimes we just want to be with one another and no one else. That's why I'm taking Moana out on a date. She doesn't know about it of course, though I'm sure she'll appreciate it. It'll be good for us to have an evening out. 

      "Moana, love, we're going on a date." She smiles. "When?" I grin. "Right now." I put out my arm so she can wrap hers through it. I lead her down to the boat. I grab her hand and help her onto the boat. "Tonight my love, we're going to take a boat ride around the island and simply relax. While it's amazing that we're having a baby and starting this new wonderful journey, we haven't had much time to ourselves." She nods in agreement before going for the sail. I block her path. "You, Moana, need to relax. Remember what the doctor said. You need to take it as easy as possible. That means no sailing until after you give birth." Moana looks at me with utter disappointment and I feel for her. Sailing is a huge part of me as well. To have to go without doing it for eight months would be unbearable for me. "But Maui, you know that sailing is a part of me. It's who I am." I sigh. "I know love, but you want the baby to stay healthy don't you?" She sighs. "Yes Maui." I kiss her forehead. "I promise you that after the pregnancy is over, you can sail to your heart's content." She smiles. "I like that sound of that." "Yeah, me too." 

    I adjust the sail and track of the boat until I'm satisfied that we're heading in the right direction before sitting down next to Moana. "First of all, I wanted to apologize for my embarrassing and dumb question at the appointment this morning, but in all fairness, I think it was on your mind too." She giggles. "It was, though I'm not as ballsy as you are and I felt weird asking about it." I poke her playfully. "There's no need to be embarrassed for craving sex Moana. I mean after all, our sex is pretty magical." She smiles. "That it certainly is." "Second of all, I have another question that may sound stupid so again I apologize." "It's okay Maui. Ask away." "What's it like having a baby inside of your stomach? Like does it feel weird?" "Well that's an interesting question. Well it feels weird. The baby hasn't started kicking yet, but I'm sure it will in a few weeks or so. But despite it feeling weird, it also feels wonderful. You and I created this little being together. That's such an amazing and beautiful thing. I'm not looking forward to the pain I'm going to feel pushing the baby out of me, but other than that, pregnancy isn't so bad. I just hope you don't judge me for getting fat because I will be getting bigger in the next couple of months." 

    "Moana, if anything, you'll probably only look more beautiful as the pregnancy goes on. You'll get that fancy glow that everyone talks about." She leans her head onto my shoulder. "Thank you Maui." "No need to thank me Moana, I'm just stating the truth." "So Maui. I have a question for you now." "I'm all ears. She grins. "Have you processed the fact that you're going to be a dad in about 33 weeks time?" "I have finally processed it and I'm so happy. To be honest, despite my fears, I've always hoped that one day I'd be a father and now I get that chance with the most incredible woman in the world." She blushes. "I wouldn't say the most wonderful woman in the world." I pull her close to me, kiss her softly, and then pull apart while still cupping her face. "I would." 

     We spend the rest of the evening stargazing and lying in one another's arms, though being careful not to rock the boat too much. This is exactly what I was hoping tonight would be like. Date night certainly is doing us some good.
