Chapter 35

Moana's POV 

  A week later...

   Maui's made a lot of progress. He hasn't tried to harm himself nor has he had any thoughts of doing so. Also, he's back to admiring himself like usual so it's safe to say he's getting back to his old self. I couldn't be happier. I missed bubbly, confident, and happy Maui. In celebration of him coming back from the depths of darkness, I'm going to take him out on date tonight. I've been planning it in my mind week and I'm really excited to make it happen. I plan on taking him out on a canoe to stargaze. We'll pick a nice spot and just lie there admiring the night sky. It's simple, but elegant. 

    I make my way over to Maui who's currently a sandwich. I sit down beside him and rub his arm soothingly. "Maui, I'm taking you out tonight." He looks at me in surprise. "Isn't it my job to plan the romantic dates and sweep you off your feet?" I giggle. "Well yes, but I want to take you out. I've had this idea in my head all week and I really want to go through with it. So, my question to you is will you allow me the honor of taking you out on a date tonight?" He kisses my hand. "It would be my pleasure to go on a date with you my love." I blush and mentally squeal that he agreed to go out with me tonight.

 That night...

    I lead Maui to my canoe. He takes my hand and helps me into it and then gets in afterwards. When we're seated and begin to head out, he looks at me with growing curiousity. "So where exactly are going Moana?" "Not too far Maui. There's a lovely spot that I discovered the other day when I was in the village and I want to show you it." He smiles. "Sounds great." 

20 minutes later...

   I finally get us to the spot. It's overlooking some mountains and the waterfall is within viewing distance. I tie the canoe up to a nearby post and lie down. Maui looks at me questionably before lying down next to me. "Stargazing? I didn't know you were as romantically goofy as I am Moana." I laugh. "Well I am so enjoy it." He puts his arms around and pulls me close to him. Gently of course so we won't tip over the canoe. I watch Maui gaze at the stars like an eager little kid and it makes me heart melt. He catches me staring and I blush. "I take it you like the view Moana?" "I do indeed. Both the view up above and right here in front of me are perfect." He smiles and bites his lip.

    He turns to face me now. He runs his fingers through my hair and I do the same to his. We both have such great hair. Not to brag or anything, but it's true. "Moana, can I confess something?" I nod. "I don't know how much longer I can go without making you mine forever. I want to marry you so badly." "I feel the same way Maui. I know people will judge us no matter what we do, but I don't care. If you want to get married soon, I don't see any reason not to. I love you unconditionally and I know you feel the same way about me. So whenever you feel ready to pop the question, do it love. Though don't tell me in advance because I want to be surprised." He grins. "Oh trust me, you'll be surprised. In fact, you'll be so surprised, you'll be speechless." I lean in for a kiss, which he reciprocates to. "Good because I wouldn't want it any other way."  We then go all the way in and kiss the night away.
