Chapter 63
Moana's POV
The next morning...
Maui and I both wake up at the same time. We glance at the bedside clock, which displays the current time. The current time being 11 in the morning. Maui kisses me good morning on the lips with a smile. "Good morning love. You look as stunning as ever." I blush. "Thank you Maui. You look incredible as always." He blushes as well. "So are feeling the surfing session we delayed yesterday?" "I am indeed, though I was wondering if we could grab a late breakfast first. He rubs his stomach. "Sounds good to me. Let's get ready though." We climb out of bed and go through the usual morning ritual. We manage to get ready within twenty minutes and we head out for the day.
Maui leads the way once again. Neither of us have been to Oahu before, but he seems to know the island better than I do. "I know this really nice cafe that's only a block away. It has great reviews and an excellent menu." I kiss him on the cheek. "It sounds nice Maui."
5 minutes later...
We arrive at the cafe. It's a tranquil little cafe with gentle music playing in the background. It has a massive menu with nearly every breakfast food you can think of. Gah this is going to be such a difficult decision. Maui watches my facial reactions and laughs. I playfully swat him and he pretends to be hurt. "Oh Moana, you hurt me." I roll my eyes. "Oh man up Maui. By the way, stop mocking my facial reactions. It's not my fault you took me to a place with so much good food to pick from." He laughs. "It's okay love. I'm in the same boat myself. I'm torn between five different things. I think what I'll do is settle on two. What about you?" "I think I'm going to do the same." We stand in silence for a minute trying to get our heads clear on what we're going to order. "I think I'm going to get eggs and bacon. What about you Maui?" He grins. "I'm getting waffles and home fries." I grin back. "Both of our meals sounds great."
I find a table to sit at while Maui places our orders. In addition to the food, Maui gets us both orange juice to drink. When it places it in front of me, I smile. "It's like you read my mind Maui. You always know exactly what I want." He bows gracefully. "I'm glad my intellect and I can be of service to you my lady." I giggle when he calls me "my lady."
10 minutes later...
Maui brings over our food and we dig in. I smile at the amazing taste of the food. Maui sure knows how to pick good restaurants. We finish our meal in no time. I give the staff a tip before we head down to the beach to go surfing. There's a ton of free surfboards stacked along the beach walls. Maui and I each grab one and run down to the ocean. The wave action is just right for surfing, not too intense, but not weak either. It's good for someone like myself who is just starting out.
Maui smirks at me. "Before we begin our lesson love, I want you to watch the master show you how it's done." I roll my eyes at his cockiness but smile as he excitedly jumps on his board and begins to surf. I watch him glide through the waves like it's nothing. He doesn't even wobble on his board at all. He even does a few flips and spins. I stare at him in awe. He rides a medium sized wave back onto the shore. I applaud him. "That was impressive Maui. In fact, you pretty much reminded me of how much I'm going to suck at this." He frowns at that. "Come on love, don't say that. There's a first time for everything. Plus, you have to make mistakes in order to learn. It's a part of life." I nod in agreement.
Maui rides out with me near an incoming wave. I can tell he's a little disappointed that it's a small one, but he doesn't say anything. He simply helps me position myself on the board. I remain stable as I feel the wave under my board and I manage to glide through it without falling off my board. Maui flashes me a grin and I return it. "You're a natural Moana. You really are meant to be on the ocean."
A few hours later...
I look at my watch and see that it's five in the evening. We've spent nearly the entire day surfing. Wanting to relax a bit, I plop myself down on the sand. Maui puts our surfboards back and joins me in the sand. I lie in his arms until the sun goes down. Maui looks at me with a smile. "You know Moana, this is our first time watching the sunset together." I smile back. "Yeah you're right. We should do this more often. It's lovely watching the sunset." He kisses my forehead. "I promise you that once we get home, we'll watch the sunset more, every night if you want. I just want to see you happy. I've loved watching you enjoy yourself these past few days." He sighs. "I wish everyday could be like this." I take a hold of his hands and squeeze them. "Me too Maui, me too."
