When we went inside to see almost everyone was already there, the once small pile of presents had turned into a mountain over the ten minutes I watched Brendon smoke a cigarette.
"Oh my gosh, Rose come here." Alexa squealed, taking my arm and pulling me beside her and Hannah.
I went with her to avoid ripping off my own arm. They were pointing to a very attractive boy, around our ages. He had naturally combed looking hair, a chestnut-blonde color. He had these piercing blue eyes that made you swoon as you looked at them. He made me shift in my seat, just from looking at him.
"Holy crap." Was all I could choke up. I mean, he was really good looking. His facial structure alone made me melt a little.
Hannah pushed my shoulder, "Uh, Rose." I was too stuck in a daze at this incredible looking to notice Carmen was standing behind me.
"Yea- Oh. Hi Carmen." I said nicely, standing up with a smile. Her face didn't match mine at all, she seemed a little... mad.
"Rose. So, you like Mr. Eye Candy over there?" She asked, cocking a brow to the guy I was just looking at. I blushed, "Uh, I guess." I didn't really know what to say, because she didn't seem to be too happy with my staring.
Carmen's face developed a tight smirk, "Well, his name is Jack, he's my date. What a catch, huh?" My whole face must have looked like a tomato. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" I started but Carmen cut me off, "It's fine, babe. I know he's hot, that's why I brought him."
I just forced a smile and nodded, trying to get out of the situation quickly.
"You know, you aren't the only person looking at other people. Why don't you check your boy toy's phone?" She asked, giving me a fake puppy dog look. "What do you mean?" I asked, almost afraid for the answer.
"Just check his phone."
I got a shiver down my spine after she said that, giving me the haunting feeling that he wasn't being as loyal was I thought.
Now all of us were silent. It was getting a little too weird.
"Bye now. Kisses." Carmen said before blowing us kisses and putting her nose back in the air to walk away.
I started shaking, my face remaining the same red color it has been for a few minutes now. I quickly started walking away, leaving the row of chairs I was sitting on in the corner of the church.
"Where are you going?" Alexa called, making me stop in my steps. I turned back to her, reading both of their faces. "I have to find out what she's talking about."
I know she's probably just saying that to mess with me, but I still have to know. I don't know what she does to me, but she's doing something. She's driving me crazy, she is in my head.
"Brendon." I said sternly, approaching him slowly. He turned to me with a smile on his face, but it wore away when he saw how mad I was. "What's up, baby?" He asked, quickly smiling again. When I got next to him he put his hand on my face, beginning to pull our lips in. I knew he was doing it to soften the blow, he knew he was in trouble.
"No. Can I see your phone, please." I spoke, my voice a little shaky.
Brendon's cheeks got red quickly. That wasn't a good sign.
"Why?" He asked, grasping his phone in his pocket. "You don't have to give it to me, but if you don't it will prove something you don't want to be proven." I said, my voice calmer than it was before. I wasn't lying either, I just wanted the truth, and that's it.
He gave me a look, and then gave me the phone.
I opened it, immediately opening the 'iMessages' app. The second number was Carmen's name, with a text that read 'I miss you baby, come over after the stupid church party?'. It wasn't read, but it was from Carmen.
"Are you serious?" I asked softly, my eyes watering up. "Rosemary, it's not what it looks like." Brendon said as I gave him back his phone. I didn't want to see anymore, and I don't think he wanted me to see anymore either.
"I have to go." I said quickly, turning around and starting to fast walk to the doors.
Brendon followed me, which I didn't really want right now. He finally caught up to me when we were half way down the cobble stone steps, grabbing my arm and flinging me around to face him. "I can explain, please." He begged, which just made me want to cry even more.
"You know what? It's fine. I don't care anymore. We aren't even dating, right? Live your life Brendon, and I'll live mine." I said sternly, tears threatening to spill.
"Please don't go." He pleaded, his eyes wide.
The church service started, Pastor Hayden's voice booming through to the outside of the church.
"You have to go." I said, tugging my arm away from his grip. I didn't even care about a ride home at this point, I just walked away, seeing my moms car in the parking lot. Brendon turned away too, and started back into the church.
If I'm being honest, it's my fault. I thought it would be a good idea to have something with the school bad boy. He's everything I would have hated before I moved here to Vegas, and it makes me feel idiotic that I even tried to get him to be with me.
I found that the car door was open, so I got in and waited. I waiting for thirty minutes before people started flooding out of the church, and that was my cue to get out.
I stood against the car and waiting for my family, and saw Alexa and Hannah before seeing them.
"What happened?" Alexa asked, concern protruding her tone. I don't know why, but that's when it hit me. I lowered my head and started to cry, just barley.
"Oh, Rose." Hannah said softly, pulling me and Alexa into a hug. It helped to have friends, but it would have been better to have Brendon's leather jacket should to cry on.
I wiped my eyes and released, sniffling a little. "I'm okay. I can't let my mom see me like this. I'll see you guys later." I said, smiling to them. They smiled back and patted my shoulder before turning around and going their separate ways.
That night I went home the same way I went home the first day I met Brendon. I was annoyed, angered, stressed. Now I'm adding the sad emotion to that list.
