I'm so stupid, really. I just had to pull Brendon into this, didn't I?
I'm in too deep, and I really don't know how to get out. I'm trying to fingers out how while I search hopelessly through my closet for clothes to wear that don't scream, "Church Girl."
God, I hope I'm not Church Girl.
It's 7:39 and I never got an exact time for the party, but I'm going anyway.
No, I'm not going to be stupid and drink or smoke or anything like that, but I'll go. I need to not have a label. Labels aren't good, at least not to me.
After a bit of searching, I found a dress. It was in the very back of my closet, and I see why now. It's all black with a short skirt, but still flowed out a bit. The top portion of the dress was tight to my torso, pushing my breasts out of it a bit more than needed.
It was not my style, but it's one night, and then I won't have to do anything this ridiculous again.
I quickly put it on, seeing as Brendon's was going to arrive any minute now. I have a two story house, my room, of course, is on the second story. I sat with him and his friends at lunch, which was awkward to say the least.
We planned that at 8:00, he would come up to my house and toss a rock of something at my window to tell me he's as there, and I would climb down, and off we went. Not the most strategic planning, but it's something.
I made sure I had black spandex on under the dress, just in case anything were to happen. My lucks been off this week.
I did my usual light makeup and yelled to my mother down stairs, "I'm going to bed!"
"You have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow, I have to leave for work and you have to babysit!" She yelled back. I rolled my eyes and scoffed to myself. I hated babysitting the rats, it's the worst.
"Alright. Night." I said a bit lower before turning into my room and closing the door. I made sure to lock it, just in case.
I plopped on my bed, butt first. Waiting was making all my anxious thoughts flood in, what if I get caught? What if something happens? God, I should just tell him I can't go.
I got up and walked to my phone, opening my messages. I found Brendon's name and began to type.
Hey Brendon, I'm really sorry but I can't-
Before I could finish my get out of jail card, my window was being pelted with small rocks, loud enough for me to jump at.
I quickly ran over to the window and opened it, by immediately backed up wth a rock almost hit me.
"Sorry!" Brendon whisper-yelled from the ground. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my phone, realizing there was no going back now. I made it out of the window and onto the slopped roof, which was difficult to walk down with converse on.
I know, converse with a dress? Sue me.
I turned back around carefully on the little space I had, closing the window back. I made sure I was unlocked so I could get back in without having to break anything.
I stepped to the very edge of the roof, looking down to Brendon, standing there in a tee shirt and jeans, a leather jacket slung over his shoulder, being held by his fingers. His mouth was ajar as he looked up to me, he looked in awe for some reason.
"Brendon, I can't jump this." I said nervously, my heart thumping loudly enough to hear it in my ears. "It'll be fine, just jump." He reassured, doing a poor job at it.
"Brendon, I can't." I said, stuttering a hit with my words.
"Hey, I'm right here, I'll catch you, just jump." He whisper yelled to me, extending his arms under me. Now or never, Rose. Now or never.
And with that, I jumped and landed into his arms. I was certain he would drop me, but he caught me perfectly.
Brendon now had me in his arms, bridal style. My arms were around his neck, which made me realize I was literally clinging to him like a baby koala. "I'm sorry." I said, bringing my head away from his chest, letting him put me down.
"It's fine." He said, starting a gaze at my feet and bringing it up.
I cut him off, "So where's everyone else?" I asked, under the impression that we would be with other people in his friend group.
"Probably at the party. Hey, your the one who said you were going with me." Brendon said, cocking an eyebrow at my defeat. I rolled my eyes and wrapped my arms around myself, it was pretty cold out considering its fall and almost Halloween.
Brendon noticed my shivering as we walked quietly to his crappy little blue car. Without saying anything, he took his jacket and placed it over my shoulders.
"I already have one of these." I said, jokingly as Brendon opened his passengers side door for me. He jogged around to the other side, starting the car.
"I've got a couple, and I'm making you give that one back to me." He said, gesturing to the jacket I slipped my arms through. I could smell him on it, and the other one, which wasn't a bad smell, at all.
"Oh, sorry, I'll bring you your other one to church." I said, clutching onto the longer sleeves.
He chuckled, driving out of my neighborhood, "You look good in them you know, especially when they are mine."
I scoffed a little, wrapping my arms around my self to sustain warmth, "Thanks."
For the rest of the drive, I just watched him. It amazed me that he could feel so comfortable in such cold weather. I've always been used to the heat in Arcadia, it never got this cold there.
Also, Brendon did little things all the time. He gritted his teeth when someone did something to tick him off a bit. His fists clenched when he was thinking and he would pop his thumb when he waited.
That's just what I got from a car ride. Brendon's a very strategic person, if that makes any sense.
"Whatcha' looking at, doll? Undressing me with your eyes?" He asked. I quickly look away, embarrassed that I was caught, "No, just observing."
"Undressing." He mocked, smiling lightly. I scoffed, tightening my grip around myself.
"Everyone does it you know." He said aloud, confusing me a bit. "Does what?" I asked, looked to him. "You know, thinking about what someone looks like naked." He said.
I was appalled, "Are you implying I was, oh, no." I asked. "It's obvious." He said, clenching once again onto the wheel.
"Oh really? How is this?" I asked, crossing my cleanly shaven legs over each other.
He smiled devilishly, "You uh, you do this thing when you think, where you cross your legs and tighten them. Oh, and you bite your lip. It's a bit of a tease factor. Sexual tension." I quickly uncrossed my legs and pulled a finger across my lips.
"Your not the only one who observes, doll. I just do it discreetly."
