Look who's still alive and am writing a little fluffy Christmas oneshot for you all hallelujah thank you Newsies tumblr tag for this prompt and also "Santa Fe but it keeps speeding up" where I almost woke my family at 4 in the morning laughing at it. Also this photo of Jack and Kath could resurrect me from the dead that's all bye.
Katherine stood facing the window of their apartment and looking at the snow falling gently outside. The New York skyline was a dusty grey and covered the skyscrapers in puffy clouds to where the windows of the buildings could barely be seen. She wrapped her arms around herself and sighed contently. It was only her and Jack's second Christmas together and everything felt perfect. Like a fairytale.
Two arms wrapped around her causing her to jump.
"Just me." Jack laughed as she quickly turned to face him.
Katherine pressed her nose against his and closed her eyes, smiling softly.
"Good."
Jack kissed her forehead lightly before bringing his forehead back to rest against her's.
"You know Mrs's Kelly. We gots the apartment to ourselves today." Jack smirked with a raised eyebrow.
"Unless that's your way of proposing, I'm not a Mrs. Kelly yet." Katherine laughed.
"Nah Ace, you'll always be mine. Just gotta get a ring first." He mumbled, playing with her hair.
"Mm, one day." Katherine sighed, happy at even the thought.
"Well we could have a little fun." Jack smirked.
Now it was Katherine's turn to raise an eyebrow.
"It's 10° degrees outside, we barely have any heat considering how high our electric bill is and that's what you're thinking about?"
"It'll keep us warm."
"Mhmm, keep dreaming Jackie."
Jack rolled his eyes and sighed. Katherine enjoyed calling him that out of mocking due to the fact that Davey had called him that and he hated it. Yet when it came from her, it wasn't all that bad.
Katherine untangled herself and went over to the couch to sit down. She curled her legs up onto the cushions and draped a blanket over herself.
Jack couldn't help but smile as he admired her. How instead of some frilly nightgown she enjoyed wearing one of his shirts and a pair of shorts to sleep in. How her hair fell lightly across her shoulders and framed her pale, freckled face ever so slightly. How there always seemed to be some kind of twinkle in her eye.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Jack snapped out of his daze and his cheeks turned pink.
"N-No reason. . ." He said sheepishly, "I just love you that's all."
Katherine smiled and patted the spot next to her on the couch. Jack went and sat down and she curled up next to him as he draped an arm around her and pulled the blanket over himself too so they could share.
"What should we do?" Katherine asked, looking up at him, "Sitting around in a cold house won't be very fun."
Jack tapped his finger to his chin, his other hand absentmindedly grazing across Katherine's midriff under the t-shirt.
Katherine jumped slightly and pushed his hand away.
"What's the matter?"
"Just tickles that's all." Katherine laughed lightly.
Jack's eyes lit up with mischief.
"No no no!" Katherine said quickly, hopping off of the couch and taking off in a run down the hallway.
Jack flipped off the blanket and ran after her. He quickly grabbed onto her and picked her up before plopping her down on their bed and began tickling her.
"Ja-ck! Sto-p-p i-it!" Katherine laughed, trying to pry his hands away while also trying not to knee him in the chin.
Jack finally flopped down next to where she laid and looked at her, grinning widely. Katherine propped herself up on her elbow and smiled at him.
"This is our second Christmas together." She happily whispered.
"Yup. What do you think our third one will be like?" He asked suddenly.
Katherine laid back and smiled.
"It'll be just as wonderful. All of the boys will be here and it'll be snowing. New York will be covered in a white blanket of snow. And. . ." She trailed off.
"And?" Jack urged.
"And we might even have a baby." She said, looking over at him, unable to stop smiling.
Jack just closed his eyes and laughed lightly.
"A baby, huh Ace?"
"Mhmm."
Jack gently rolled over and swung a leg over her so he was hovering over her.
"And just when would we be so lucky to have such a wonderful baby?"
"Whenever we want." Katherine laughed, sighing slightly as she brought her hands up to mess up his hair.
"For sure?" He asked with a cocky grin.
"For sure." She whispered, keeping her eyes locked with his.
Jack leaned down softly to her ear, his breath making a chill run down her spine more than the cold house.
"What about right now?" He whispered gently, pressing a light kiss to her neck and igniting sparks through her veins.
"I-I don't think. . ." She mumbled softly.
Jack leaned back, weaving his hands through her hair that had spread out across the sheets.
"Don't think what?" He asked looking down at her. Katherine opened her eyes slowly and looked back up at him. Gosh she wanted him to kiss her. Right here. Right now. Just like on the rooftop. Just like they'd do at their wedding.
Katherine just wrapped her arms up around his neck and sighed softly before bringing his forehead down to touch her's. Jack looked down into her eyes before closing his softly. Every bone in his body begging to close the gap between them. He gently brought his lips down on her's, letting his tongue slip into her mouth and nearly grinning at the small almost squeaking noise she had made in surprise. But Katherine couldn't deny how much she loved it. She kissed him harder and wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer as one of his hands snaked under her shirt.
Thwack!
Both pulled away in surprise and confusion. Jack looked up to see the window covered in a fading small circle of white snow.
Thwack!
A new ball of snow smacked against the window.
Jack got up off of Katherine and pulled her up. He walked over to the window and grinned at the sight. The newsboys stood below, each holding snowballs in their hand.
