I have decided to make this because of really bad OCs I have seen. If you didn't know before, OC is a term for an original character, usually used as a fanfic or roleplay term to mean a non-canon character made up by the author or roleplayer. It makes me kind of sad when I see bad OCs because this fandom is so great and it doesn't deserve the really bad fanfiction and characters.
So without further ado, I present to you, the Supernatural OC Guide.
We are going over 6 main areas of character development in this guide, including:
1) Basic Info
2) Appearance
3) Personality
4) History
5) Relationships
6) Miscellaneous
These areas will be split into sub-areas to focus in on some of the more specific topics.
1) Basic Information
-Naming Your Character-
In real life, you are probably named after one of your family members or something your parents liked. This is the same for any character. They aren't named for something in their personality, because when they were a baby, no one knew how they would turn out. Name them something from their culture. DO NOT name someone Aika Hinato when they were born in Brazil. DO name them Juliana Santos. That is a Brazilian name. Also, please refrain from using nouns in names. (Ex. Moon, Darkness, Mystery, Raven etc...) It is unneeded and nonsensical. Do not spell a name differently to make it special. (Ex. Juuly instead of Julie etc.) If your character is an angel, base the name off of an angel in the bible. Castiel is based off of Cassiel and so on. Names should be simple. DON'T NAME YOUR OC AFTER YOU.
-Species-
Please don't make any animal demons. They do not exist as far as we know in the Supernatural verse. Half-demons are very questionable. Half-angels are impossible. Half-demon half-angels are not real so don't you even dare. Stay away from half-anything. CAT GIRLS ARE IMPOSSIBLE ALSO. DON'T DO IT. Demons have ranks and so do angels. You must state this in the profile. Also, there are types of demons, not just.... "demons." Research any species other than human before you make your character. Then, if someone says "that's not true!" you can give them the article number that tells them it is. *wink* Plus, your character is fact-checkable and accurate.
2) Appearance
-Hair and Eyes-
Hair should not be any crazy/unnatural colour. I repeat, NO CRAZY/UNNATURAL HAIR COLOURS. Unless it's dyed. As for eyes, same thing. No mood bracelet eyes, and no crazy colours. Heterochromia is fine, as long as it's not treated as something "supa dupa speshul." It shouldn't be a big deal. And there shouldn't be a reason. Normal people don't have heterochromia for a reason, other than genes. Therefore, your character shouldn't either.
-Height and Weight-
For this category, you will need a height/weight chart. You don't want to make a character anorexic-looking or over-weight, unless that is one of their flaws. (Anorexia is kind of touchy)
