Adrienne Thomas moves to Phoenix in 2020 for a reset: college classes, open mics, session gigs, and a desperate attempt to outrun a past she isn't ready to face. She expects heatstroke and paperwork. She does not expect the universe to hand her five musical weirdos who feel suspiciously like family.
She meets Ryan first-polite, brilliant, mildly haunted by chord progressions. Ryan drags in Robert, a bassist and growler with a soft heart, a long fuse, and a denim vest with more lore than most novels. Robert reconnects with Edwin, a quiet guitarist whose riffs sound like ancient prophecies (and whose emotional vocabulary consists mostly of "asu"). Edwin recommends Marcus, a drummer from Norway who can keep perfect tempo and also deliver sarcasm in Mandarin. And Robert, against better judgment, calls Tom Helvering-a volatile thrash-metal savant with a talent level in the red and life choices in the blue.
Together, they're a disaster.
Together, they're perfect.
Their first jam session is a mess that becomes magic. Their first group chat becomes a war zone of memes and screaming. Their first show is a basement fire hazard with great acoustics. And somewhere between the laughter, the noise, and the accidentally-spiritual chord changes, they find something they never expected: each other.
This is the story of how Lightkeeper began.
Of six strangers who didn't just form a band.
They built a home.
