"Denny!" you cry, trying to rush to him.

Teddy sticks out her arm to stop you. "Don't, Dr. Matthews. Step back. Let me deal with this."

She charges the defibulators to a higher level and smashes them against Denny's chest again. His eyes shoot open and the monitor begins to beat at a normal pace again. He pants and his face glistens with sweat. Teddy runs her hand through her hair in relief.

"Denny!" you call again, this time pushing through the cluster of doctors and taking your friend into your embrace. Teddy casts you a knowing look and ushers the other doctors out of the room. "You're okay. Oh my God, you're okay. God, I love you so much. I love you so much. I love you..." You slowly realize what your words mean. "I love you, Denny. And not just as a friend."

Denny smiles tiredly. "I love you, too, Rubi." The pieces of the puzzle slide together. All those times where you'd glanced at Denny and he was already staring, all those times that he'd made you feel better than Craig ever could have managed, every time he said "I love you" with a sad smile. It all made sense now.

His smile begins to fade away. "But you're married to Craig now."

It's your turn to smile. "I didn't go through with it."

Denny's grin returns. "So it worked."

You gasp. "You sabotaged my wedding?" Instead of feeling the anger you expect, you feel a surge of admiration towards Denny and his antics. "I should have known."

"I didn't do that much!" Denny defends, raising his hands in surrender. "All I did was plant the flowers, Alex, and Izzie. The whole almost-dying thing just happened to be a lucky coincidence."

You purse your lips together. "Don't say that."

Denny flashes a wide white smile. "I love you, Rubi, and you love me, too. I don't regret that or anything that happened building up to this moment. I don't regret the sickness that brought me here, I don't regret Craig who pushed you to me. I don't regret anything." He places his hands on each side of your face and pulls you closer. "I don't regret anything." And he closes the space between you by bringing your lips together, and you meld together as one. Denny fills you with an airy feeling that never existed with Craig and you can't hold back the words anymore.

"Marry me."
