"Rose," a soft voice called from behind the door. "Rose, it's time for breakfast." While Ellie's voice was an oddly pleasant sound to hear the first thing in the morning, Rose moaned into her pillow. The knocking on the door continued.
"Do I have to?" she called out almost sarcastically to her newly discovered younger sister. Her bed was so warm and inviting, begging her to lay in it just a little bit longer.
"Yes. You begin training today. Our father is even going to show up for training today. He hasn't done that in months. You know, you can't start training on an empty stomach." The older brunette lifted her head off the pillow and called out for Ellie to come in. The tinier girl stepped inside and promptly shut the door behind her. As Rose got up and moved to go get ready, Ellie yammered on about wanting to see what her older sister could do, to know everything she could think of about her and her powers. The elder one finished getting ready in about ten minutes after her wake-up call.
Grabbing a sweater out of her still yet to be unpacked bag, Rose questioned her, "Can I ask how you're so cheerful in the morning? Cause I certainly didn't get that in the gene pool."
"My mother was an early riser or so I'm told," Ellie answered her. "She died having my brother and I."
"Oh I'm so s-"
Ellie held up one hand. "No need to apologize for something you couldn't have prevented. You were only 6 or 7 when we were born. Now let's go get some breakfast. Cause I'm starving and you need to meet the Knights. Or our team as Kol calls them." Ellie wound her arm around Rose's, surprising her. John had her believing that the English were into much physical contact. She settled into the hold the girl had on her as she pulled open the door.
John and Kol were waiting outside the room for the girls. Rose raised an eyebrow at her blond companion as he wasn't wearing his favorite trench coat.
"I know what you're thinking, Rosie. And yes, I do feel naked without it."
"It is like I'm seeing you naked," she answered. "Only in a more clothed sense."
Kol coughed. "Look, we may have just met and everything, but I don't need to know about my older sister's sex life."
"You will probably learn more than you want to, mate," John said as the twins began to guide them to the dining hall. "Rose is extremely open about pretty much everything. And I mean everything."
..............................
The dining hall was like walking into a cavernous cathedral, complete with sky high ceilings and stained glass. Lucy tried to explain it yesterday; that across the globe, all the Headquarters for The Order were linked to the dining hall. She said Merlin had done it this way so everyone would be able to connect with each other. While it seemed John understood how it could be done with magic, like Lucy said it was, it was a bit much for Rose. There was a distant echo as multiple languages bounced around the room, some of which she recognized, others she didn't, as Ellie and Kol led her and John to a table. Despite having five empty chairs, the occupants of the table greeted them loudly as they found their seats. George, James, and Lucy gave everyone a wave and a bright smile.
"Hi everyone!" Ellie's voice rose, pulling her sister closer to her. "I'd like you to meet my sister, Rose Parker, and this is her friend, John Constantine. You two, this is Max Gamble and that's Kenna Marshall. Over there is Andy Goodman. And you guys obviously know the other three already."
As the group took their seats, Rose looked at the familiar faces around the table. Lucy ignored her in favor of Ellie, her cheeks growing rosy as her sister took the chair next to her. George and James were back to their deep conversation with a man in glasses. Her gaze was beginning to take in the rest of the table when a cough broke her concentration as well as the rest of the tables. John had been the one to pull all eyes towards him as he moved a closed fist away from his mouth. "So anyone want to tell me where we get our breakfast?"
