Heheh >:3
Your POV
Today, Overwatch are having a grill. I'm very excited about it and so is everyone else. I decide I would be helping Soldier 76 with the food because he's the one grilling.
I look over his shoulder. The smell of meat wafted to my nose making my mouth water. (sorry to all vegetarians out there)
"Yes, Y/N?" He said.
"Mind if I help?" I ask, trying to sound as sweet as possible. He didn't say anything at first and seemed hesitant but then moved to let me try cooking.
"Okay, just flip the burgers carefully-"
"Like this?" I say. I must've used too much power because the meat flew up into the air and to my luck, it landed right on Soldier's head. I turned red in embarrassment and broke out in apologies.
Everyone laughed at what I had done to him and I felt as if he was giving off an intimidation of anger.
Without a word, he left to go clean up. What part of carefully do you not understand, Y/N? I can't believe you just did that to your own boss.
I sat down at the table and sighed.
"Aw, don't worry, love! He knows you didn't mean it." Tracer comforted me.
"Yeah, plus, he's the one that left you with the burgers to grill." Lucio stated.
The burgers? "THE BURGERS!" I screamed and ran to the grill. They were burnt to a crisp, almost thinking Jamison did something to them.
"Ahem."
I turn around, finding 76 with his arms crossed. For the next hour, I ended messing up everything.
"Y/N, you put it upside down!"
"Y/N, you did it in the wrong order!"
"Y/N, it's not done yet!"
I felt exhausted. Finally, we finished making the food. I was probably a full disappointment to Soldier 76. I watched him take a bite out of his burger and in the next 3 seconds, he was as red as the ketchup I put in his burger.
"76, are you okay?!" I winced as he panted. I gave him a glass of water and he washed it down. Wait. Did I put in ketchup? I looked at the bottle I used and it said "Tabasco." When I put it back on the table, it tipped over, spilling the hot sauce all over his gun.
Fuck.
"Um, eheheh..." I laugh nervously as he shoots me a furious glare of hate.
"This is the last time you have messed up on this team! I don't want anymore failures otherwise you're out of here, got it?!" He screamed at me.
The next thing I know, I felt pain through my face.
Soldier 76 had punched me.
Everyone else watched with wide and fearful eyes.
Blood dripped down my mouth and nose.
He looked at his hand and then back to me.
I felt tears coming up. I ran back into the building. I quickly grabbed all the stuff I needed and ran without looking back. If he wanted me to leave, then I will.
- A Month Later -
I stretch out my legs, waking up to the sun shining through the blinds. I had requested a month to live in this apartment. Today was the day I was going to go back and show how much I wasn't a failure to Soldier.
My appearance had changed as well. I don't wear any armor, in fact, I just wear my regular clothing since I'm not fighting anymore. I've also decided to put dyed streaks in my hair.
As I put my fingerless gloves on, I left the building and head to Overwatch.
---
I opened the door, waiting for the right moment to go. As I saw Pharah and Mei walk past, assuming that they are going to breakfast, I quietly made my way to Soldier's room.
I broke in, finding no one there. He must be eating.
I hid behind the corner of his room. After a few minutes of waiting, I hear him come in. When the door was closed, I slammed Soldier's back onto the wall.
"Y/N?!" His eyes widened. I gripped his wrists tighter. I glared at him, showing my anger just like what he did to me. But instead of feeling infuriated like I was supposed to, I felt sad and frustration.
"Why?..." I mumbled as tears fell down my face. I quickly tried to wipe them away, not wanting him to see me be so weak with my emotions but they kept coming. He took off his mask and he did something that I've never seen him do before. He smiled.
"Y/N. We've missed you. I didn't realize what we were missing before you sent yourself away. I should've never hurt you. Emotionally and physically. I'm really sorry. Please forgive me." 76 pulled me into a hug and squeezed me.
"Soldier, can I ask you something?" I said and looked to him.
"Sure, Y/N."
"Are you...Jack?"
