99 Names

d Ibn Saalih al-'Uthaimeen (d. 1421H, rahimahullaah) in his Book al-Qawaa'id al-Muthlaa. So he compiled a list, as the scholars have done, hoping to enter into the hadeeth. One of the parts of correctly preserving these Names is to look for these Names and to compile them. So amongst these scholars, as we said, was Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah), and he compiled a list of 99 Names. Not to say that Allaah's Names - as we have heard many times - are restricted to these 99 Names, but hoping and striving to establish the 99 Names which are given that promise, that whoever preserves them correctly and acts upon them will enter Paradise.

So the shaikh initially brought a list of 81 Names extracted from the Book of Allaah - the Qur'aan - and then he brought 18 Names, the last 18 - 82nd through 99th - from the authentic Sunnah.

So he said: From the Book of Allaah, The Most High, are:
