You are (A/T)

Darling take it from me, everything's better under the sea...

Bark met salt as a grand ship continued to sail the seas headed out to discover the endless bounds of the world. The sails catching the wind setting the crew faster into the unknown. And upon the deck the crew were hard at work in the calm whether, forever keeping the ship to high maintenance.

A large white wolf and a red hedgehog who were moving barrels of drinking water on the upper deck looked over the railing and sniggered at a young tall fox with two tails as he tied some ropes to the masts.

"Why would the captain let a deformed runt like that on the ship?" the wolf asked his friend leaning over the railing.

"Probably so we have a runt to mess around with, and we always need a member of the crew to do the grunt work." the hedgehog replied, also enjoying indirectly mocking the fox.

Meanwhile the fox himself, known as Tails to his friends, was focusing intently on tying the knots to secure the sails. He was determined to do a good enough job so that he'd be allowed to stay on the ship. The young kitsune had been desperate his whole life to travel the world and discover new things all his life.

And it was only now that he was 18 that the captains of various ships couldn't refuse him. Yes he knew he'd most likely be picked on for his twin tails, but then again that was another thing that had been with him his whole life. So with a jolly crew a determined fox the ship carried on sail.

Although the ship wasn't the only thing travelling the seas, there were plenty venturing underneath.

A sweet giggle could be heard as a large fish like animal swan at such a speed that she sent a couple of the smaller fish she passed spinning about. Various angry small voices could be heard at her speed.

"Sorry!" she called back in her joy filled voice.

Yet the Mer(A/T) didn't let it knock her down, instead she continued at the same speed eager to explore another part of the ocean. Her (F/C) tail swished and sped her through the currents of the water, above coral gardens towards the bay of ship wrecks she was headed.

"Yes! I finally made it!" she squealed excitedly.

Swimming at the bed of the ocean next the sand she effortlessly glided into one of the sunken ships and began to explore. The treasures to be found amongst the rotting wood were endless. She found a small odd looking trident, a metal object made of two circles with an arrow in one of the circles, a glass object with a bottom but open at the top looking like it was meant to hold something and a metal chain with an oval charm threaded on  to it. The oval charm also opened up to reveal two very blurred images which she couldn't make out.

Thinking that she'd found enough she placed them all carefully into her shoulder bad which was woven out of seaweed.

"Maybe the Sea Hag will finally leave me be if I give her these treasures, even though I'd like to keep them for myself." the mer(A/T) sighed.

She was headed to the sea hags cave but stopped with a swish of her tail when a large shadow was cast over the sea bed. Curiously she looked up and saw the belly of a boat crossing the surface.

"A ship! A real life ship! Please let this be real and not a pile of bullshark!" she cried happily.

As fast as her tail could get her there she swam up to the surface, something she had only dared a couple of times in the past. She gasped in awe at the size of the ship, it smelled strongly of oak and was varnished giving it an astounding shine. The masts reached up into the clouds themselves, hoisting sails as white as the stripes of a clown fish.

With a heart beating with a sense of danger and enticement she cautiously swam along the edge of the boat keeping up with it's speed being no harder than combing her hair. But as she swam along with the boat Tails or the 'runt' had been landed with the rubbish job, literally, of dumping the leftovers of all the crews lunches over board.

He did so with a sigh and kept reminding himself that this was the only way he would get what he wanted, he gave a glance to the ocean but quickly looked back. Just before he looked again he heard a splash and saw the ocean surface as empty as before.

"Must have just been a big fish." he mumbled to himself.

But the large splash had in fact been (Y/N) hurriedly diving back under the water, praying to Poseidon that he hadn't saw her. She was recalling the image of that land creature in her head as she swam back down to the sea bed, and he looked like a merfox, but obviously the land creature version. His fur sure was bright.

Now had she been a clever mer(A/T) she would have left the ship alone and stayed away from it. Sadly though a curiosity as strong as a child's has a tendency to block out all common sense.

And so the ship and it's crew were unaware as a mer(A/T) followed them beneath the surface, and all the while Tails kept being given the grunt work, constantly wondering what type of fish could have made that big a splash in these seas.

And in about less than hour night fell, but rather than stars it was lightening the filled the sky. In the blink on an eye the whether became the ships enemy rather than a friend, as waves crashed, thunder rolled and rain hammered down. The sails were drawn up and folded away as to avoid tearing, the captain remained at the wheel trying and failing to keep the ship on course and the rest of the crew tied themselves to a length of rope which was tied to a sturdy part of the ship to prevent the fate of drowning.

The crew shouted commands and comments to each other over the roaring and crashing of winds, waves and rain.

"Tie those barrels down!"

"Make sure your tied down!"

"This blasted storm wont calm down!"

"Why have we had such rotten luck!? There aren't any women on the boat!"

(In the past women were thrown over board on ships because they were seen as bad luck)

At that last shouted sentence, slowly but surely all eyes looked past the screen of water to the kitsune who was clinging onto the side of the ship for dear life.

A glance was shared around the crew and they knew what to do.

Tails looked out to the storm with dread lining his stomach like lead, but it only multiplied when he looked back to the deck of the ship and saw several members of the crew surrounding him.

They didn't say a word as one of the crew then pulled out a knife and cut Tails safety rope.

"What are you doing!?" Tails cried immediately trying to fix the rope.

But he was quickly stopped and silenced as he was choked by a neck lock.

"Quick! Throw that deformed thing over board! It should calm the storm!" The captain yelled.

"Wait! Stop!" Tails pleaded.

But a swift punch was sent to his stomach, he keeled over and couldn't even retaliate when they pushed him against the edge of the boat and then tip him over the edge.
