They could feel the wind against their faces as they sprinted across the village. Eyes scanned around like eagles in the sky, only that they brimmed with desperation. The sweat that rolled down their temples seemed to float in the air in slow motion, but quickly dropping as time swept by. The dust that has accumulated around them rose to the air like fog, dancing in the wind. There was no time to waste. The more minutes go, the more lives walk closer to the mouth of death.
People grew bigger as the distance shortened between the shinobi. Soon enough they recognize their comrades assisting the villagers and readying them to leave now that another enemy has appeared. If there's anything more urgent, that would be making sure that they escape while the warriors who have mastered the sword battle another swordmaster.
"Sasuke!" Kakashi calls the Uchiha who was currently assisting an elderly.
"Is it gonna work?" Neji asks nervously. "I could sense an immense amount of chakra from that samurai. It's close to what Naruto has."
"Let's bet on it," the captain replies, "Shall we?"
The onyx-eyed boy quickly finished what he was doing before hurrying to Kakashi. He was surprised to see his teacher and captain (alongside his friend) a mess from head to toe. Ashes had added white splotches to Kakashi's outfit while he had scratches here and there from the initial attack from the samurai. The expression on the man's face embodied desperation but at the same time: hope.
With him, the other shinobi fumbled their fingers restlessly as lightning flashed and thunder rumbled across the sky. Even while they were helping the villagers, they feel goosebumps all over them. Swords clashing echoed through the horizon, and they couldn't help but feel like they're the spectators instead of being a part of the fight.
Sasuke didn't like this one bit.
"Sensei, what happened?" The boy asks. "Looks like the samurais are busy parring swords."
"Believe it or not, but we've been dragged into their problems. And I'm sure you've already figured that out by now," Kakashi replied.
His eyes fly behind Sasuke and they slightly narrow to find Obito blatantly cuddling Yoshie in his arms. The eyes that glimmered in Obito's eyes was all too familiar, and a red flag was waving so clearly. But no one dared to interrupt Obito's moment with the unconscious Yoshie.
