Ok...it's late again but I guess you could have expected that.
It's just a bunch of family stuff that really sucks and my parents are way too academically pushy so I've been attempting this thing. I'm not really sure how to do it but it's called revision. Any tips for me? 😘

(Y/n)'s pov

"Carnivale?" I mutter, eyebrows furrowing in concentration. "You're going to get him at carnivale?"

"Yes, we believe he is targeting Marco Barbarigo, the new Doge, so we are doubling all the guards and having the party in a closed off area, probably near the river so there is quick escape routes..." He trails off, looking behind me and frowning. "Listen, there are 5 men, thieves most likely, loitering around and watching us. We should go somewhere more private to discuss things further."

I nod as he steps out from behind his selling table, offering his arm and smiling. I take it confidently and he leads me away from the market. After a few minutes of walking I can hear the not-so-stealthy thieves following with quiet yet noticeable footsteps. There's also a faint pattering on the tiles above. Three behind us and two on the rooftop.

"We don't have long, our followers are speeding up." He nods as I asses the less than ideal situation. I'll just have to improvise this one.

"I never got your name." I state casually.

"It's Marco." He smiles warmly and I return it.

"Any chance we could hurry this up? We're still being followed." He laughs and breaks into a sprint, me staying hot on his heals.

"If you can keep up!" He calls over his shoulder.

"Don't make me laugh! If anyone needs to keep up its you!" I shout, running only a pace or too infront of him since I have no idea where we are going. I feel my heart jump suddenly and I can't help but marvel at how natural this feels- just running through these streets. Maybe I could leave this all behind. The assassins, the Templars and even Italy. I could go anywhere on these two sturdy legs of mine, anywhere I wanted.

I argued with Antonio until he finally agreed to let me go with him. If (y/n) has gotten herself into trouble again then I'm going to be the one to save her this time. I wasn't there for her last time or even the time before, but this time I'll show her how much she really needs me. I'll show her that I'm not just a novice.

I wasn't expecting this to play out how it did. Antonio and I had been following the pair from the rooftops whilst a few of his men pursued on foot.

At first I had thought she was acting, playing the role of Templar agent but after seeing her pure elation as she ran away from the assassins, from the thieves, from me, I start to doubt her true motives.

(Y/N)'s pov

Marco led me to a private courtyard where there was a man waiting.

"Dante Maro, this is (y/n) Borgia. She is here to help us with our assassin problem." He introduces me and the man turns around, smiling slightly.

What if he knows about my father banishing me?

"Ah, you may leave now Marco... Such a beautiful lady." He takes my hand and kisses it. I repress my shudder and instead courtesy to him. "I've heard of your skill and grace but I must say, you are much more...stunning than I expected."

As he paused he had pulled me forwards to whisper 'stunning' in my ear and he inhaled deeply, his nose and breath tickling the skin on my neck and making me shiver. He pulls away with a smirk and releases my hand.

"If you want to help then you'll have to accompany me to the party, I'll get you a gold mask. Meet me here at midday on Carnevale, you can help me judge a contest." He gives me a once over and frowns.

"Is-is there something wrong?" My throat catches on the first word and I mentally strangle myself with my own intestines.

"No just, wear something nice. A dress perhaps." He smirks once again and I have to try so hard not to smack it off his smug face. "And you'll also get to meet our other ally on this assassin case. His name is Ferdinand-"

"No" I blurt out, my heart hammering, if he's there then my plan is screwed. "I-uh-I...don't want to work with anyone else on this mission... I thought we could do this...Alone."

I bite my lip and try desperately to appeal to the man's inner pervert.

"Uh- ahem. Yes, I...I suppose he could sit this one out... And leave it to us." He starts getting flustered and shifts uncomfortably on his feet.

"Thank you." I hug him and whisper in his ear, "I'll find a way to repay you."

Now it's his turn to shiver.

Ezio's pov

I flick my wrist and hear the familiar slick of the blade dropping past my fingers. I'm going to kill that bastard. And I'm going to enjoy it. I step forwards but Antonio grabs my shoulder and pulls me back to prevent me from jumping off the roof and wedging my blade into that man's jugular.

"Don't let your feelings compromise this opportunity. My men have overheard every detail about the security of this party and ,if (y/n) is as loyal as you seem to think she is, then we've even got an insider. Besides that..." He trails off, listing reasons why I need to calm down but I don't really hear a word.

I can't focus through the red haze fogging up my head and my vision. The way he touched her made me so angry, the way she flinched it...it made me want to hurt him.

The effect was doubled when she touched him. It caused me pain- not the kind of pain from falling over but the kind of pain you get deep in your heart that feels a lot worse. I realised at that moment that it was jealously. I wanted to kiss her hand and whisper in her ear, not this bastard do it instead.

"Ezio? Ezio!" Antonio shakes me back to reality. "Put away the blade Ezio, at least for now."

I look back down and see that Dante has walked away and (y/n) is now alone in the courtyard.

Drawing a shaky breath, she falls to her knees and hangs her head. That's it, I'm not standing back any longer!

I leap down off the roof and onto a lower scaffolding, then onto the ground. I sprint the last few meters and kneel in front of her shaking form, hesitating only a moment before wrapping my arms around her and pulling her towards my chest. I hug her tightly and this time I'm not going to let her go.

I have a serious question for you guys:
Would you prefer for this fanfic to be written in 3rd person or in your/Ezio's POV?

Also thanks for being patient, I'm having a rough time and I haven't had a lot of opportunities to work on this, I'll try and update again soon
