Family Encounters & Birthdays

The Three Broomsticks was quite crowded and from the amount of people who showed up I got a good range of last minute birthday presents. Finally I was 17, which was coming of age for any witch or wizard. As expected I received nothing from my proper family, though they didn't say a word since the incident at Cedric's. However from my new family, which is now Cedric's, I received a beautiful home-made bracelet which had 'Sofia' engraved on it and some symbol which according to Cedric was the symbol that his mother wrote on anything she loved. From Amos I got a hat which had Cedric's favourite Quidditch team on whose name I couldn't exactly pronounce, though Cedric seemed to like this addition. After opening the various sweets I got from alot of people Cedric finally pulled out his small gift box for me. However he didn't let me open it.

"Diggory, it's my present stop opening it." I say, hitting him lightly. Cedric had been unwrapping the bow around the box while I said that. Though before he could say anything Cedric opened the box to show a small ring which he then placed upon my finger. 

"Cedric, it's beautiful." I feel the ring which has a small heart shaped diamond on it which makes me all warm inside.

"It's called a promise ring, I have one too." Cedric shows me his hand I just realised that he had just a plain gold ring on his ring finger. Instead of hugging him I go straight for his lips and Cedric returns the kiss, which yet again lasts longer than we thought. As I lean back onto him as we sit down together I start thinking of when my sisters' cards will come, then I realise that they won't.

"I miss my sisters Cedric." I say, sighing into the thin air. Everybody seems to be having fun at this party though I keep getting dragged down again.

"We can go and see them can't they, apparate to yours." Cedric mentions, though I think he forgot about the fight.

"My parents Cedric, they hate me." Cedric is reminded of the events, we don't usually speak about what happened.

"I'm sure they don't hate you, maybe they have came around. However they can't stop you from seeing your sisters, I'm taking you there." Cedric stands up and pulls me up with him. We leave the pub yet again and walk secretly back to where we were yesterday and apparate away. My house hasn't changed, it is still the country based house in the Cotswold's. On the warm summers day both of my sisters are playing outside which allows me to go over to them and see them.

"Tegs! Hols! Ssh!" I whisper loudly to both of my sisters who run up to me and hug me at the same time. I hold them close and almost cry and seeing them again.

"What is he doing here? Mum said that his mind has been played with and he is trying to convince everybody that the evil man is back." Holly says, crossing her arms and staring sharply at Cedric.

"Well that isn't true, Mum and Dad have different views and they chose to follow what the ministry said. Though I don't want to fight! I just want to see you both!" I hug both of my sisters again who lead me to their play set in our backyard.

"Mum and Dad say that you've gone mad, but once the 'pretty boy' breaks your heart you'll come back to us saying how wrong you were." I breathe in heavily, I never thought my parents would be so bitchy. However by going into the garden properly my parents have spotted me from the kitchen, I am lucky that Cedric decided to stay back and wait for me to finish with my sisters.

"Sofia, why are you here?" My mother looks disappointed in me, though hopeful that I've realised the truth.

"I wanted to see my sisters." I say plainly back, I try to return to playing with the twins though my mother wants to question me. 

"Have you broken up with that awful boy yet?" she states plainly back, it is lucky that Cedric stayed back.

"He is not awful Mother, and we are together and strong." I say fiercely back, my mother seems outraged.
