"So, like...should you tell anyone you're here?" Taylor asks, as their SUV pulls onto the tarmac of the private air hangar. Her private jet awaits them, its staircase extended to the pavement in order for guests to ascend and board the plane.
Their car parks a few feet away as Karlie replies with a shake of her head. She hasn't talked much since Taylor offered her a place to escape to, but Taylor didn't push her. There would now be plenty of time to talk. Now Taylor was just riddling over how she would tell the people in her life that she would have a near stranger as a room mate for who knows how long? But Karlie doesn't seem to be worried about similar qualms.
Taylor realizes that Karlie can't take her eyes off the moderately sized aircraft, as she gets out of the car and doesn't even glance to Taylor to see what they'll be doing next. Karlie just stands by the car, staring at the plane.
"Have you ever flown private before?" Taylor asks, as she nods her head towards the plane to have Karlie follow behind her. Her security is already loading Taylor's luggage.
"I've never been on a plane," Karlie replies.
"What?! Your whole family travels!" Taylor replies, stopping in her tracks to look back at Karlie.
"I don't," Karlie says flatly.
"Oh," Taylor says, kicking herself for not putting the pieces together herself instead of asking a dumb question. Karlie breezes past her, her eyes still locked on the plane, as she begins climbing up the stairs first.
Taylor follows, now fully realizing what it meant for Karlie to board this plane. And she forgot to warn her mother.
Andrea Swift was already on the plane to return from the trip she took with Taylor, but when spotting Karlie and Taylor arriving, she doesn't even look surprised. "Hi, Karlie! Coming with us?" Andrea asks pleasantly, as she politely closes the book she was reading.
Karlie looks more surprised by Andrea's presence than the other way around and stiffly nods her head before quickly looking away from Taylor's mother. Maybe Karlie is realizing what she's actually doing too.
But Taylor doesn't want her to overthink it now, there is no time for second guessing. Taylor may or may not have already planned out an entire quiet night in for herself and Karlie whenever it is that they touch down in the states. She'd like to be able to spend a laid back night on the couch with the princess, no drama, maybe a movie playing quietly in the background, just as they talk. She wants to get to know her more. "Come over here," Taylor says, lightly gripping Karlie's elbow for a second as she pulls her to the furthest row away from her mother, giving Andrea a meaningful look as she passes. It's a long story. She knows her mother understands, even if she does probably have about a million and a half questions now.
Taylor sits down first and is expecting Karlie to sit beside her, but she seems to hesitate, before sitting across from Taylor instead with a small table in between them. Karlie peeks her head out the small airplane window, while Taylor takes a moment to appreciate her features once again. Her dark brown hair is so smooth and thick, making her uniquely green eyes pop in ways that fascinate Taylor to no end. Her lips are thin, and Taylor knows they're soft to the touch. Her cheek bones are highly defined and her brows are perfectly arched. She's just about as impressive looking as anyone she's encountered before, the type of beautiful that would be a shame to look away from. And she's not even smiling. Taylor knows what her smile can do to her face, how it lights up like pure sunshine and is contagious enough to get Taylor smiling in an instant, it's not a smile she could forget. But it is a smile she hasn't seen since she last saw Karlie, nearly two months ago.
"I don't have any clothes," Karlie says, looking at Taylor suddenly. It's the first time Taylor has ever heard her sound nervous, downright anxious, and Taylor can't help but think it must have more to do with just the clothes.
