أسلم عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته.
Hello to my non-Muslim readers.
Jumu3 Mabruk, guys.
Enjoy. < 3

One text. Two words. Fifteen letters. That's all it took to make her heart race wildly.
Umulkheyr had given Ameerah heads up that she was going to give her number to Yasser. Before she could even protest, Umulkheyr had apologized for not consulting her before. Not. As much as she loved her soon to be sister-in-law, she had never wanted to strangle someone as much as she wanted to strangle Umulkheyr.
Asalamu 3aleikum. He texted.
Ameerah stared at the text for what seemed like hours. She knew it was him. She could feel it. If that even was logic.
Wa3aleikum Salam. She texted back.
Almost immediately, her phone beeped.
Insha'Allah you are doing well? He inquired.
Alhamdhullilah. How is the family and aunt Khadija? She asked.
They texted back and forth which was all about small talk and awkward get-to-know each other texts.
"My favourite sister." She heard Amir's voice behind her.
She had come to visit her step mom's house and had found only ummu Amir. It was after Asr and had forgotten people were either at school or work.
Amir had refused to work in the family company wanting to 'find himself'. He had done medicine and was now interning at the hospital.
"Amir." Ameerah's face lit up into a smile. "Asalamu 3aleikum, brother. You grew up."
"It's been four years. Of course I'd grow up." Amir sighed kissing her forehead.
"How's work?" Ameerah inquired.
"Hectic and tiring but it'll all be over soon in a few months. How was abroad? I hope you got better." Amir looked at her in concern.
"Amir." Ameerah warned, not wanting to start with her past.
"I wish I had been there. It could've never happened. That haraami was a coward to go after a woman." His anger was overwhelming.
The incident that caused her to leave country had affected Amir immensely. Khalid and Yasin had taken care of the issue in a uncivilized way but Amir still had anger and remorse after what happened.
"You are seeing me after four years and all you do is bring up my ugly scars, akhi." Ameerah felt warn out thinking of the course of her nightmare the first year after her incident.
"You are getting married, Amee. I don't want you facing the same ordeal all over again. This time I'll take matters in my own hands." Amir stated as he sat down next to her.
"His mother and Ummu are close friends, Amir. I don't see a problem and I prayed Istiqhara. Allah has guided me into this and am sure it's all for the best. His family has a good reputation and background. He respected my wishes, Amir. That should tell you something." Ameerah assured her brother. "Respect mine and let Qadr happen."
Amir nodded, raising his hand to cup her right check. "May Allah bless you with everlasting happiness."
"Ameen."
