13. Chip Switch (Part 1)

Lilly's POV
Anyway, at school, I saw Leo and Principal Perry argue over him using the elevator. Anyway, she yelled, "Listen up space-fillers! This week is emergency preparedness week, an emergency drill can happen at any time, so when the alarm sounds, you must evacuate the building in an orderly fashion, like cattle. If cattle had acne, and braces, and a future filling up my gas tank." She laughed and walked away.
Adam said, "Aww, I wish I had Bree's superspeed because you do not want to be stuck walking behind cows in an emergency, trust me on that!"
Chase asked, "You would trade your super strength for Bree's super speed? Man if I had your strength, I would run out of the school juggling those cows... "
Bree said sarcastically, "Yeah, if I had your super intelligence, I would have walked away from this conversation thirty seconds ago..."
Leo said, "That would be cool if you guys could take out your bionic chips and switch abilities."
Chase said, "Why can't we?"
Bree said pointing to Chase, "I call your super smarts!"
Adam said pointing to Bree, "I call your super speed!"
Chase said pointing to Adam, "I call you super strength!"
Leo raised his hand saying, "I call good looks and charisma, Oh, too late, I already have them..."
I rolled my eyes and said, "Guys, you shouldn't do that, one, Davenport won't let you, and two, are you insane?! What if there is an emergency? You guys have been trained for years with your own abilities, if you change it and there is an emergency then you probably won't be able to help because your not used to your new abilities!"
Leo said, "Geez, you and Chase are perfect for each other, both fun killers..."
I narrowed my eyes and said, "Come on Chase, you of all people should understand!"
He said, "I still want to do it!"
I rolled my eyes and he led me to the lockers saying, "We'll be fine, don't worry, I can make it so we switch back in an instant if needed, don't worry!"
I said touching his face, "I always worry..."
He smiled and pulled my hand to his chest saying, "I know, just trust me..."
I shook my head saying, "I'm sorry, but I just can't support this, sure it's cool at first, but then it can blow up at any second, Chase..."
He nodded and said, "Come on, we better get to class."
We walked to class hand in hand, but I knew Chase wasn't too happy with me...

The next morning, we were in the lab and Leo said, "If you too are going to switch your chips, don't you think you should run this by Davenport first?"
Bree said, "Yeah, but their our chips..."
Leo said, "Yeah, but what if we got Adam's gigantic head on Chase's tiny body?"
Bree said, "We don't have to ask Daddy for permission on everything we do..."
Adam said, "Yeah, I mean, do you think I ask Davenport which shoe goes on which foot? No, I label them, left and not left!" He showed us and I smiled and rolled my eyes playfully.
Chase said, "Okay, Bree, attach the chip extractors to the capsules, I'll program the computer for chip removal, Adam, just get in your capsel." Adam cheered and Chase said, "Now Leo, I have the most important job for you of all. Once we get inside, I'm going to need you to push this green button..."
Leo said, "Yeah, and then I'll push the button that makes you stop talking to me like I'm five!"
I rolled my eyes typing on my tablet. I pressed send and watched it happen. Leo pressed the button and the process to swith chips was happening. Adam yelled as a joke, "Oh no, my head is coming off!" Leo and I freaked out and then Adam said, "Just kidding..."
I grabbed my bag, shouldering it the process was complete after a few seconds and they came out. I asked, "Did it work?"
Chase said, "I don't know, Adam, why don't we arm wrestle?"
The got into position and Chase won. He yelled, "Yes! Who's got the tiny doll body now?"
Leo said holding his arm out, "I'm next!"
Adam said, "Leo..."
Leo said, "This is gonna be a piece of cak- ah!" Adam beat him easily.
Mr. Davenport came in saying, "Come on guys, you'll be late for school."
Leo said, "Hey, Big D, just a simple question, what would happen if three totally random bionic kids decided to switch their chips? I'm not asking for them, it's for my other three bionic friends."
Adam said, "You have three other bionic friends, how could you not tell us? We could get like a mini van and carpool!"
I slapped my hand to my forehead groaning. Mr. Davenport asked, "Wait, you guys didn't switch your chips, did you?"
They all said no and Mr. Davenport continued saying, "Good because that would be a crazy idea. I calibrated their bionics to match their biology. Adam has height so I matched that with strength, Bree is lean so I matched that with speed, and Chase, no one questions Chase's impossible wealth of knowledge because he looks, nerdy..."
I busted out laughing and he glared at me. I said, "Sorry, Chase, but it kind of is true..."
He rolled his eyes and said clearly uncomfortable, "Yup, I got all sorts of smarts in here! Numbers and mathy stuff!"
Mr. Davenport said, "Point is, switching their chips could cause all sort of unpredictable problems, so you should never do it ever! I have spoken!"
He walked away and Chase said, "Mr. Davenport is making such a big deal about nothing..."
Bree said, "I know, I mean, we already switched out chips and nothing bad happened."
"Fine, race you to school!" Adam said before he ran into the wall. We all laughed and them went to school.
