10. Back from the Future (Part 1)

Lilly's POV
Anyway, Monday morning, I looked at Chase when we were in the lab eating saying, "Love is in the air..."
He asked, "What do you mean?"
I said, "First you and me, then Bree and Ethan, now Leo and Janelle, next Adam will get himself a girlfriend!"
He chuckled and said, "Well, let's hope she has common sense." I rolled my eyes playfully and continued to eat. Adam and Bree came into the lab and talked a bit and messed with the new gadgets. Davenport came in and Chase nudged me. I looked at him shaking my head no and he whispered, "Try..."
I stood up and said, "Mr. Davenport, can we talk in private?"
He said, "Sure, Lilly."
We walked into the entrance and he asked, "What do you need?"
I said, "Can I get a job here in the lab, like an internship? I don't have to be paid, but I just could really use the experience."
He said, "I don't Lilly, I don't know if you have the skills to work in this lab, do you know anything about inventing and coding, or robotics?"
I said, "I made these glasses to adjust to my prescription, have X-ray vision, heat vision sensors, and more..."
He asked, "You created glasses that fit to your eye prescription?"
I nodded saying, "Yeah, I've had these glasses since the beginning of junior high."
He said, "Alright, you're probably going to be here a lot anyway and you're less accident prone than Leo, alright."
I smiled saying, "Thank you so much, Mr. Davenport."
He said, "You're mostly going to track Adam, Bree, and Chase's progress on training and you're going to help out with missions."
I smiled saying, "Absolutely!"
He said as he walked away, "You start now."
I smiled and hugged Chase with his awaiting arms opened. He said, "I guess you even have more of an excuse to stay here."
I smiled saying, "Yup."
I kissed him and Davenport said, "Alright, time for mission suits."
The three walked into their capsule and then changed. Davenport handed me a tablet and ear piece saying, "I uploaded everything on this tablet, everything we've done and the mission today. The mission supplies are packed, the schematics are uploaded to Chase's chip, and your transport is on the way. Did I forget anything?"
Bree said, "No, we can just guess what the mission is and see how it all plays out..."
Davenport said, "All right, a particle collider is a three mile tunnel where-"
"Scientists shoot particles at each other at light speed for energy tests. It's so cool!" said Chase.
I rolled my eyes playfully as I put the earpiece in. Mr. Davenport continued, "There is a particle collider in Burkley that is accelerating out of control your mission is to shut it down."
Adam said, "Oh awesome, I hope one of us knows how to do that..."
Mr. Davenport said as he walked over the computer where Leo was, "Okay, we have to act quickly because the scientists' facility -excuse me- has already evacuated the control room, but if we don't shut it down, a massive black hole will implode the entire Earth."
Leo said, "Today? Well, that's not going to work, today is Shelly Evan's birthday and her mom makes the best cupcakes!" I walked next to Chase and he put his arm around me and we all looked at him with disbelief. Leo said, "I'm just saying, that woman doesn't skim on the sprinkles."
I sighed and said, "Leo, if you shut up for about five minutes I will make you my homemade cupcakes and frosting to celebrate a finished and successful mission and my new internship here!"
Leo replied, "Alright, I'm holding you to that!"
I rolled my eyes playfully as Mr. Davenport said while moving to the island table, "Don't worry, you will get your cupcakes, Adam, Bree and Chase have all the training they need to shut the collider down."
I smiled and Leo said, "I don't know, Big D, I think these guys need backup!" He sang the last word while making a superman pose, but with one arm bend close to him.
I rolled my eyes and Mr. Davenport said, "Yeah and that's why you're going to be backup here with Lilly and me back in the lab."
Everyone laughed and I said, "Leo, the chance of you going on that mission is the likely chance of me being bionic!"
Adam said, "Aw he said backup and you said backup! Saying things twice makes it funny! Oh! Saying things twice makes it funny-!"
"Stop it!" shouted Mr. Davenport
We saw an orb and a person appeared in a chair. He was screaming and everyone but me was screaming. Mr. Davenport said, "No body panic, it's probably just the cable guy!"
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the laser pen Leo showed me earlier and was ready to shoot at any time. The guy in the chair exclaimed, "Come on Big D, I just came from seven years in the future! Your time machine actually worked! It's me! Leo!"
Davenport looked at Leo and I pointed the pen at him while Adam said, "Woah! The cable guy got the same name as you!"
I said, "No, Adam, he might be an imposter trying to take you guys out!"
Leo said, "Wait, if you're really me, then you would know the handshake I came up if I ever became a spy..."
Self-Proclaimed Leo said, "Requesting authentication double o Leo."
They did a handshake and Leo shouted happily, "It really is me!"
I rolled my eyes saying, "Are you sure he isn't a phony?"
Younger Leo said, "No, it's him..."
Chase lowered my hands saying, "Don't worry, if he turns out to be a phony you can just shoot him on spot."
I nodded and Mr. Davenport asked pointing to the two, "So, you're the future version of him? You know what this means!? I cracked time travel! Ha, ha, ha! I cracked time travel! I cracked time travel! Can you do me a favor? When I see you in seven years, can you remind me how awesome I am! Let me high five myself!"
Future Leo and Younger Leo said, "Oh I'm sure you won't forget... Hey! He just said what I said, technically, I just said what I said. Okay, you're going to have to stop doing that! Stop! STOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!" They stopped when Future Leo covered Young Leo's mouth.
Future Leo looked at me and pointed to me saying, "Big D, you had the help of her."
My eyes widened and I said, "I cracked time travel?" He nodded and I smiled saying, "I helped crack time travel! Wahoo!!!" Chase pulled me into a hug and swung me in the air!
Future Leo said, "It's so good to see you guys!"
Chase said as Future Leo hugged them, "It's good to see you too! Older, yet, strangely similar Leo."
Future Leo pulled away from the hug and Mr. Davenport said, "So, what did time travel feel like? Did your body mass increase exponentially as you accelerated to light speed?"
Future Leo said, "Uh, I pushed a button, felt a lot of wind, there was a big flash, but yeah, mass and speed stuff."
Adam said, "So, if you're from the future, then what color are my eyes?"
Bree said, "Ignore him, come on future Leo, lets jump to 2025 and see what people are wearing, I want to start now and be a trendsetter."
Future Leo said, "I'm sorry, but it took Lilly and Big D years to scrape just enough zano to get me to come here once and go back."
Bree said, "Okay, but if I end up wearing mom jeans and hair scrunchies, you are going to get back in that thing and fix it!"
Davenport's phone went off and he said, "The collider mission, you guys have to get to the equipment room and gear up!"
He ushered them though a door while Bree said, "Nice to meet you future Leo."
Adam said, "Congrats on growing out of your awkward stage."
Chase smiled and kissed me saying, "I'll see you before I head out..."
Young Leo asked as they went through the hallway, "Hey, why didn't you just bring Future Adam, Bree, and Chase with you? Let me guess, you just hopped into the time machine and took off without them. That is so future me!"
Future Leo looked crestfallen and said, "Actually, that's why I'm here, Adam, Bree, and Chase don't make it to the future."
We all looked at him in disbelief and Leo shouted, "What?"
Adam came in running, "Oh no! Forgot to pack my pudding..."
