Chapter 25

Ryo:

I stared into the empty room from the doorway. I tried to picture Yuka standing in there. Her turning and laughing at me, calling me an idiot.

But it disappeared. The image slipped from my fingers and no mater how hard i tried to get it back it kept getting away.

I sighed and sat at my desk. I put my head in my hands and groaned. I lifted my head and took a peek at Yuka's mirror.

There were dark bags under my eyes and my hair was messy and knotted. I was wearing a wrinkled cream colored men's tunic with tight brown pants meant for riding. But I had given up my horse.

The bed was untouched since I haven't slept since Yuka left six days ago. I dozed off a couple times, but never long enough.

I wanted to sleep. If I slept, the pain would go away. But then it would come crashing back down the moment I awoke.

So I refused to sleep.

I jumped as a knock sounded on the door. "Come in." I called. I put my head in my hands again as the door opened and footsteps came toward me.

"This letter came in for you, General." I took the letter from the servant and waved him off. I waited until I heard the sound of the door clicking before opening it.

Dear Ryo,

How are you? I know I haven't been gone long but it seems like ages since I last saw you. I'm doing fine, by the way. I told my father about our engagement and he had taken it well. He only requests that we have our wedding in his castle. I thought we could abide by his request.

I know I shouldn't be angry with you, but I am. I want you here. I want you with me, but you're there. You've left alone with only an overprotective Dreyar for company.

I want you to come here. We can have our wedding and then head home. Things will go back to normal faster that way and I won't have to worry about you.

I handled the letter carefully, teardrops slipping from my eyes and falling down my cheeks.

I had always adored her handwriting. It was more elegant and neater than my own.

She's mad at me...

I put the letter down and stood.

I'm coming for you, Yuka. I don't care what happens here at the castle with me gone. I need to be by your side.

With that thought in mind, I started packing.

Yuka:

I rolled over in my bed to see that Dreyar had fallen out of it at some point and was now sleeping peacefully on the floor.

Sandy was curled up at my feet and I gave her a quick brush with my hand as I got up and dressed.

I put on a plain blue dress and brown cape. I was going out into the town. I needed to see if it had changed since I left.

Making sure Dreyar was still asleep, I slipped out of the room and out of the castle.

The streets were empty except for the peddlers and traders that lined them. There were a few peasants here and there, but the children were gone.

With growing fear and panic, I realized that they were all staring at me, and there were no women around.

I slipped down an alley and my fear increased as I heard the sound of footsteps following me.

I kept winding through the empty alleys, hoping I would lose them. I lost most of them, but i could tell one was still following me.

I began to hurry as I heard his footsteps speed up.

My mind was everywhere, mapping out the town in my head. And sadly, I realized that the alley I had turned into, was a dead end.

Oh no...

I spun around I see my follower and was stunned. He looked like Ryo.

Black hair and blue eyes. Tall, lean, yet strong build. They could've been twins.

That was how he got me.

He pinned me up against the wall while I was distracted. I struggled in vain as his hands ran along my thigh and waist.

I tried to cry out but my screams were muffled as he shoved something into my mouth. My hands were trapped between us, pressed against my chest and his own as he shoved his mouth into mine.

I whimpered as he raised my dress.

Please no...

I'm not going into detail here because I find rape disgusting and horrible. So I'm going to skip to the end in the next chapter.
