As we kissed, I found my fingers tangling into Evra's hair, and I felt Evra's hands pull me closer to him. I've never felt something so strong for someone and I never wanted this to end.
Eventually though, it did and we sat there, breathing hard. I could feel my heart beating hard and I could hear Evra's beating harder and faster than usual. For a second, it was awkward. We just kissed, like... Really kissed, for the first time and now we didn't know what to do.
Were first kisses always this weird? Suddenly some loud howls made us jump and we started laughing at ourselves. "Wonder what's wrong with wolfy?" I asked. "Probably nothing." Said Evra. "Probably just grumpy again." I said and he nodded. "So..." He said. "So..." I replied. "Um, are you gonna sleep here or... In your hammock?" He asked. I smiled and lay on his chest, "I think I'll sleep here if you don't mind." I said. He smiled, "You know I don't." He said and tilted my face up to his and kissed me softly that time. "I could do that forever." He whispered. I kissed him and smiled as I lay back down. He played with my hair and I played with his fingers and his scales. I looked at his fingernails and got an idea. "You should let me paint these." I said to him. "What?" He asked. I laughed, "Your nails. You should let me paint your nails." I said. He took his hand from me like I already had polish in mine! "You are not painting my nails!" He said standing up and backing away. I laughed and took his spot as I pleaded. "Please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?" I asked. "Nope." He said, crossing his arms. "Pretty please with... Whipped cream on top?" I asked. He shook his head. "No, Liv." He said laughing. "Pretty please with a frappè thrown in?" I asked. He looked like he was thinking then said, "Sorry, no deal."
I groaned then tried once more. "Pretty please with a frappè and a kiss from me?" I asked, giving him the best puppy dog face I could create. He stared at me for a while then sighed, "Alright. Fine." I squealed and jumped out of the hammock. I hugged Evra, "I love you!" I said and kissed him. I turned to get the polish, but he grabbed me and pulled me back against him. I laughed as he gave me a longer kiss and held me as close as he could to himself. When we stopped I went to get the polish and when I came back Evra was sitting in the hammock again. I got in and looked through all the colors I had and pulled out neon yellow. "Heck no." Said Evra. I laughed and put it back. "What about green?" I asked. He nodded, "Green is fine." He said, but quickly regretted it when I pulled out a green called Sour Apple and started painting.
"You so owe me!" He said. I nodded, "I know. Now keep still, I don't wanna mess up." I replied. "Oh cause we wouldn't want that now would we?" He said. "You are so sarcastic!" I told him, still painting. "And you are starting to sound like Mr. Crepsley!" He shot back. We laughed and I started on his other hand. "So, Halloween is almost here." I said, finishing and looking at him. He gave me a blank stare. "Liv, Halloween is still like 2 months away." He said. "Almost here!" I said again and he gave up. "Ok, it's almost here. Why'd you bring it up?" He asked. "What are you being?" I asked. He sighed. "Again, Liv. Two months away!" He said. "That doesn't matter! What are you gonna be?" I asked again. "I don't know! What are you being?" He asked. "I don't know. I was thinking of being a vampire with fangs and a cape just to mess with Mr. Crepsley but that sounds boring. Then I was thinking of being princess Ariel." I said. "Who?" He asked. "She's from one of my favorite movies." I said. He nodded and pulled me onto him as he lay down. "Why don't you wait til those Halloween stores open up?" He said. I shook my head. "Nah. Because if I do I'm gonna be in there for hours, surrounded by tons of different costumes and even more indecisive than I am now." I said, playing with his hand again. "Scales..." I mumbled. "Hm?" He asked. "What if I was a snake girl?" I asked. "A snake girl?" Evra asked me. "Yeah. Like, I could get Rebecca or Truska to do my makeup for me. It'd take a while but It'll be fun! You wanna?" I asked him. He nodded and we kissed. He sat up and pulled me close again and I smiled. I loved this! Being with Evra in a 'more than friends' relationship was amazing because it felt like nothing had changed! Except for the fact that we couldn't stop kissing each other. But I didn't mind that, all I cared about was having Evra and our friendship the way it's always been. "Hey Evra I--"
Evra and I stopped kissing and looked over to see Rebecca standing in our tent. "Hey Rebecca." He said. "Hi." She said, and there was something new in her tone that I didn't like the sound of. "I just finished laundry and these are your clothes." She said setting down the pile. She walked out before he could thank her. "I wonder what her problem is?" He asked. I shrugged and turned his face back to mine and we picked up where we left off.
