Chapter 14: The Rescue

Ryder's P.O.V

Charlotte must be a quick learner because she can drive the firetruck surprisingly well! We arrive at the site where Katie waits nervously. "Ryder!" "Hey Katie! Don't worry, we'll get Cali down." "Thanks Ryder." She kisses me on the cheek and we both blush a bit. Chase smirks and I can hear Charlotte quietly "aww"ing. "Charlotte, put up the ladder! Chase, have your net ready in case Cali gets spooked!" "Yes sir Ryder sir!" Charlotte puts up the ladder and climbs it with ease. "Come here Cali! Lets get you down!" "MrrroW!" "Here kitty kitty kitty! Come to Charlotte!" She reaches one paw out slowly. Cali takes this as a peace offering and slowly comes toward her. Charlotte backs down the ladder with Cali slowly following. They reach the ground about a minute later. "Great work Charlotte!" "Yay Charlotte!" Katie picks up Cali and scratches Charlotte's ears. "Thanks Charlotte!" "You're welcome!" She says grinning and her tail wagging. Chase is smiling really big and it's kinda creepy. "Chase, what are you doing?" "Oh, sorry, it's just I'm so proud of her!" Chase runs over to Charlotte and hugs her. "Aww!" Katie says. "So sweet! And thanks again PAW Patrol" "Whenever you're in trouble, just yelp for help!" We head home where Skye is eagerly waiting. "SKYEEEEEE!!!" Chase runs over almost tripping but staying steady. I can tell that he's REALLY proud because Skye looks like she's about to start laughing. "Hahaa! Charlotte looks like you're famous!" "Hahaa! Can we go back and see the pups! I wanna tell Marshall all about it!" "Great idea! Lets go!.

Charlotte's P.O.V

Ryder and I run through the woods until we reach the tree. "Hi Charlotte! Hi Ryder!" Marshall greets us. "Guess what Marshall?!" "What?" "I got to use your truck and ladder to rescue Cali!" "Really?! Wow! Good job!" "Thanks! Is Emerald doing good?" "Yeah! She had 3 pups. All boys." "What are their names?" "Tanner, Chaning, and Ryan." "Aww! How come they don't have spots like you Marshall?" "They'll get their spots when they're older." Ryder replies. "They're adorable Emerald!" "Thanks Charlotte! it wasn't that long ago that you were this little!" "Haha! I wonder what their talents will be!" "Hmm, that's a good question. What are you and your sisters' talents?" "Macy is good with water. Clara likes flying. And I like doing EMT work and rescues." "Like Marshall?" "Yeah!" "Fun! Thanks for helping Charlotte!" "What do you mean?" "You brought Katie and Ryder here to help me, and you took Marshall's place so he could stay with me! That was very sweet of you." "Happy to help! Arf arf!" "Come on Charlotte, let's go with Katie back to the lookout. Emerald, I think it's going to rain tonight. Do you want to come to the lookout with us?" "I'd love to!" She slowly gets up picking up Tanner. Katie gets Chaning and Ryder takes Ryan. "Here Emerald, let me take Tanner. You're probably tired." "Thank you Marshall!" "Here Marshall, I'll take Tanner, let Emerald lean on your shoulder, she looks weak." I take Tanner and walk carefully beside Ryder. I'm still small, and Tanner is heavy. "Having trouble down there?" Ryder asks. "No...I'm...fine..." "OK, we're almost back at the lookout." When we get back we take Emerald inside and Ryder puts some blankets down. Emerald lays down and the pups crawl over to her. Carrying Tanner was hard and I lay down on the floor. "Katie, wanna stay here tonight since it's storming?" "Sure! Thanks!" "I better get Skye, looks like someone's tired." I try to stand up and say that I'm not tired, but I am and I feel my eyes grow heavy. I open my eyes and Mama is beside me along with Clara and Macy. "Long day?" I look at Mama. "You bet." I yawn and close my eyes and go back to sleep.

Ryder's P.O.V

The pups come over and see the new puppies. When they're done visiting, Skye picks up a sleeping Charlotte and takes her to Chase and Clara and Macy. Skye says goodnight and goes into Chase's pup house. I show Katie the guest bedroom. "Thanks again Ryder!" "Of course! If you need anything you're welcome to it! Make yourself at home!" She smiles and kisses me on the cheek. I turn my head and kiss her back. When we pull away we both blush a bit. "Goodnight Ryder." "Goodnight." She shuts the door. I turn around to find Zuma. "Zuma! Oh, uh...hi.." *sighs* "How much did you see?" "Don't wowwy dude! I didn't see you and Katie kissing!" "Hehe...did you need something?" "Yeah, I wanted to tell you something." "What is it?" "You know how Evewest and I have been going out?" "What?! I didn't know-" "ANYWAYS...hehe, she's having pups...." "Oh my gosh! First of all, congrats. Second of all, how come half of the PAW Patrol has had pups!?" "I don't know, but I thought I should tell you." "Thanks for telling me! Congratulations!" "Thanks! I'm wowwied about hew though." "Don't worry Zuma, Skye and Emerald were OK, I'm sure Everest will be too!" "Thanks Wyder!" "Anytime! Now go get some rest, it's getting late!" "OK! Bye Wyder!" Wow, I can't believe it! They're not pups anymore, they're having pups! Skye, Chase, Marshall, Emerald, and now Zuma and Everest?! That only leaves Rocky and Rubble. Soon enough they'll  be coming to me with big news!

Sure enough! Rubble has been seeing another English Bulldog named Princess, and Rocky has been seeing a gray mix breed (like him) named Ruby! Thankfully they're not having pups...yet. Chaning, Tanner, and Ryan have now opened their eyes. Chaning has a few little black dots now, but the others are still pure white. Chaning seems to have taken a liking to Chase and his police stuff and Charlotte. It's pretty cute, and funny!

Chaning's P.O.V

I know Charlotte's older than me, but she's my best friend! Just like our dads! Charlotte says she likes playing with me too! We are playing with Macy and Clara right now. Ryan and Tanner are playing with Rocky and Rubble. I like Chase's police car! I want to be just like him! Charlotte is so lucky! She's already gone on a mission! She drove my dad's firetruck and saved Katie's cat Cali! She's really pretty too! She has black fur. Her paws are light brown and her ears are trimmed with tan fur. The fur around her nose is tan like Chase's and her ears are scruffy like Skye's. She has pretty brown eyes that sparkle when she's happy and when the sun shines on her eyes. She's almost 13 weeks old and I'm almost 5 weeks old. She's only 2 months older than me! Not much of a difference. "Tag! CHANING'S IT!" She yells and takes off. "Hey!" I run after her but bump into Ryder instead. "Whoaa little guy! You alright?" "Yep! Bye Ryder!" I start running again. I see Macy and I change direction to run after her. I catch up until I'm running beside her. I go sideways and tag her. I then run away to prevent being tagged. "MACY'S IT!" Clara runs by and Macy goes after her. I run away quickly. I get to the lookout where Charlotte lays on the ground. "What are you doing Charlotte?" "Chaning! Help me!" "What happened?! What's wrong?" Charlotte rolls over reaveling a small pool of blood. "Charlotte! What happened!?" "A man...came and...stabbed me...with...a..stick...." She doesn't continue and I'm afraid she's losing concious. So I do the only thing I can do, I
