Sam and Dean have a sibling relationship that is stronger than any other. It is heartbreaking to witness the circumstances that brought them to their bond. They are broken because of physical and mental exertion since childhood. They have lost too many loved ones to count due to being raised as hunters. Despite Sam and Dean struggling between aggressors in Heaven, Hell, and Earth, the brothers still manage to have fun. They blast classic rock in the impala, laugh at their own jokes, and tease each other about girls. Even with the death that Sam and Dean have faced, they hold onto this beautiful dynamic, dreaming of a peaceful future.

Please go check out my previous rant about fictional characters (if you haven't already) because I specifically address why I love Dean so much.

I summed up the entirety of their relationship in that paragraph above, but things completely change (at least, in my opinion) between the boys in episode 13 of season 9. Dean has clearly shown (and told) Sam that he is number one in Dean's life. Dean has put Sammy in front of everything and everyone else- raising and protecting Sam their entire lives.

Then Sam decides to say "Oh by the way you aren't number one in my world. I wouldn't try everything to get you back. Oh, and you're selfish for bringing me back. You should have just let me die. I dont want to be here with you, you aren't my brother, and um yeah go fuck yourself." That's a pretty accurate paraphrase of what Sammy told him. I was like "ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW? I WANT TO FREAKING STRANGLE YOU."

I realized that this moment wasn't the first time that Sammy did this. While Dean was in hell for 40 years (4 months on earth) Sam did virtually nothing to get him back. And yes, it's stupid, but Dean would have sold his soul in a heartbeat to get Sammy back. DEAN HAS DONE IT BEFORE, HE WILL NOT HESITATE TO DO IT AGAIN. That's why Dean was in hell in the first place, his time was up. Sam has the nerve to call him selfish? Yeah, Dean wanted him back because Dean didn't want to go through the fight alone. But I'm sorry, I didn't know Dean loving his brother was a crime. Dean doesn't want to EXIST without his brother with him. It's not selfishness, he has wanted only one thing for Sam- happiness. Dean continues to fight evil in the hopes that Sam could have a normal life. Remember when we saw Dean's version of a happy ending? SAM'S happiness was the focus, not Dean's. SAMMY was in love, SAMMY was living a normal life with Jess. Dean's happy ending was centered around his desires for Sam's life, and happened to include Dean spending a lot of time with his mother (*cries*). Nothing mattered in life if Sam wasn't happy. When Dean was with Lisa and Ben, it seemed like the perfect life. But NO, he wasn't completely in paradise. He didn't have Sam there. THAT'S the kind of person Dean is.

And it took DEAN DYING for Sammy to realize even a fraction of this. Sam realized that he didn't want Dean to die WHEN IT WAS TOO LATE. Despite the hell-like emotions that Dean faces, he even said that he was proud of the two of them. He basically said "I still love you Sammy" and then DIED. Dean forgives him, over and over again for breaking his heart. Every single fight that they've had, Dean has wanted to fix things pretty quickly. Sam ripped Dean's heart out.

Yeah, Sam cried when Dean died at the end of the ninth season, but it doesn't matter because he probably still wouldn't try to get Dean back if not for Deanmon entering the plot line. Sam isn't a horrible person, but he ignores Dean. He doesn't understand that family is everything for his brother. He doesn't understand what Dean has been through. Not just hell, but purgatory, the death of his mother, father, brother (multiple times), father figure, best friend/vampire, innocent Kevin, his love Jo, and the pretty much death of Lisa and Ben (he didn't lose them per-say, but can never go back to see them again). Sam needs to wake up and start acting like a BROTHER. Because that is all Dean has done his entire life. Dean is not a perfect brother, but his actions come from the idea that he is doing the best thing possible in those situations.

Dean forgive, he loves, and is loyal. He loves so much, and never asks for anything in return. I am still boiling over in rage (as you can read) towards Sam and sadness towards Dean. My rant is officially over.
