You smoothed out your (favorite color) skirt and your (favorite band) shirt in front of a mirror, then sighed. He doesn't deserve a fancy dress or anything like that, you thought. He's lucky I'm not going in sweatpants. You smirked at your reflection and left your room. You stepped out into the kitchen and saw a note on the counter from your parents, who were on a date of their own.
_____,
We already left for our date while you were getting ready. There's some takeout Chinese in the fridge. Be back by eleven. We love you.
Mom and Dad
You smiled at the note. You liked Chinese food, it was sweet of them to get you some. You walked over to the fridge and saw a small cardboard container filled with orange chicken and rice, and a little fortune cookie on top. You snatched the cookie out of the fridge and took it out of its wrapping and broke it in half. You pulled the little slip of paper out of the center and ate the two halves. Fortune cookies were exciting to you--even if sometimes the fortunes didn't make sense. You munched on the cookie then opened up the fortune and read.

Something incredible will happen tonight.

You smirked. A night with Jean? Incredible? You've got to be kidding. You tried to put the fortune in the waistband on your skirt, but it fell out. You blushed.

Umm, I guess no one will notice...

You slowly pushed the slip into the cup of your bra. You then began a feast of orange chicken, rice and suspense. You brushed your teeth soon after and the watched the clock.

"It's not like I'm excited to see him. That's stupid." You said, sitting down on your couch. You shifted your eyes at the clock on your wall, then stared forward.

"Not excited. Stupid." You looked at the clock again and growled. It was 7:30.

"If he wants to date me so bad he should at least pick me up on time!!" You glared at the wall, and a very little piece of you did know that if Jean picked you up now, he would be thirty minutes early. You crossed you arms, leaned your head back so it was parallel to the ceiling, and sighed.

"How come I can't figure out my feelings towards Jean..?" You sighed and closed your eyes. You remember the last time you saw him, when he kissed you on the soccer field. You felt a familiar warm, fuzzy feeling come over you. You quickly swiped a pillow from the corner of your couch and squealed into it loudly.

Every time you thought if that day you had a squeal attack and you didn't even know why!! It wasn't like you liked it or anything (Oh really? Didn't like it? Why am I even writing that?!?!). You hugged your pillow tightly. Then you heard a knock at your door. You leapt up and threw the pillow down on your couch. You smoothed out everything that could possibly be smoothed out and ran to the door. You sighed, sucked all the emotion out of your face and opened the door. You were trying so hard to keep a bored face as you looked up at the horse standing at your door on two legs.

"Took you long enough." You pushed your nose up in the air and strode by him towards his car. You expected it to be a dumpy mess, but you were surprised when a small black Mercedes-Benz was at the curb of your street.

"Nice, huh? I'm not a total mess." Jean said, coming up behind you and wrapping his arms around your waist.

"JEAN!! Stop!! Right now!!" You panicked and squirmed in his grasp but honestly, you sort of enjoyed it.

Jean let go and you quickly opened his car door and dove inside, and twisted to face Jean with your hands raised like you were going to karate chop him. He laughed and walked to the other side of the car and got in.
