Red/ Evy P.O.V
Grace quickly arranged the funeral. She couldn't wait to get the body back which was very suspicious. I prepared to leave at a moments notice since "her" house. Sasha & Charles were already beginning to walk over us. Ozy brushed it off as teasing which frustrated me to death. He was still heartbroken over his father so it wasn't the time to argue over this. Tonight, we were lounging in bed for some solace.
"I miss him so much. I wish we had more time. You two seemed to be getting along well." He sniffled as he laid on my lap
"I know but we had a wonderful time. At least, you spent a lot of time with him. You made him very proud to have found you." I assured him
"He liked you a lot. You have a gift for getting along with my parents." He laughed
"Huh, I guess so. Well, I got lucky that you came from such loving parents." I smiled
He gave me a little smirk before kissing me. He held my head to bring me closer. I twirled his hair while caressing his face. Our sweet moment was interrupted by the door slamming open. We broke apart to see Grace fake gagging.
"The funeral is tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock. You should arrange a cab to bring you to St. Andrew's Church." She quickly said
"Thank you." He replied as she ran off. The door was left wide open so Ozy went to shut it.
"Come here. It's going to be a long day tomorrow." I beckoned him as I lifted the sheets
"You're right. Thank you for staying." He said as he cuddled me
"In it for the long haul. You've got me babe." I replied & kissed his knuckles
I set the alarm for 6 o'clock & rushed to get ready. I had ozy go first since he was the easiest. I took a quick shower & changed into a plain black dress. We got ready by 7:20am & found his stepfamily ready to leave.
"Oh, you got ready early." Grace smiled
"Yes. It doesn't hurt to be extra prepared. Like knowing it's St. Luke's Church not St. Andrew's. But, we can all leave together now." I smirked
"Wonderful." She groaned as we all headed out
It took half an hour to get to the tiny church. We arrived a few minutes before the ceremony. I led us to the pew across from them. It was going to be a long ceremony & I couldn't stand them. I expected that his seclusion didn't leave him with many friends. But, for such a sweet man, I was hoped for more people to show up.
At 8 o'clock, the ceremony started. Ozy's dad was wheeled in causing him to choke up. I held him tighter as he cried into his handkerchief. Everything was kept short & simple. The priest gave a nice speech which was ruined by their shallow speeches. I could see their eagerness to get today over with behind their fax cries. Once they said their peace, the funeral ended. I was furious that they didn't allow Ozy to speak publicly. I knew that they did this to avoid any contention over the estate.
"You should go speak to him. I'll wait here." I whispered as people began to clear out
"Father, I only knew you a short time. But, you came to me when I was alone in this cold, dark world. You gave me a family. I will never forget you as long as I live. Oh, father." Ozy cried. I joined him to console him & allow the pallbearers to take Elijah.
"Miss, does he want the flowers?" One of them asked
"Yes, thank you." I replied as I took the bouquet of lilies
I quickly handed them to Ozy as we walked behind the coffin. I had to endure Charles's horrible gloats over the house & Ozy's stolen inheritance. I couldn't wait to be free from them after the burial.
