maggie urban.
"Oh my gosh! When is dinner going to be ready?" I heard Johnny call from the living room, immediately being screamed at by my uncle and Johnny's mother. It was quite funny hearing him try to yell back. It was normal communication with him.I glanced at Derek beside me who had an annoyed look on his face. He then broke out into a grin. I chuckled.
"I do not miss Johnny annoying the absolute hell out of me," Derek joked. I shrugged my shoulders.
"I'm sure you did," I responded. My brother rolled his eyes.
The two of us were finishing dinner in the kitchen. It was almost finished, thankfully. I knew it was driving everyone crazy.
I turned to the island, lining cups out for everyone. I could see Johnny and Taya wrestling each other on the floor. My dad and step mom cuddled with each other on the couch. Her brother and his wife sat beside them, Kai sitting at their feet. His little brother messed around with Mike on the floor as well ,which was quite adorable.
Mike's parents sat contently on the love seat, watching the movie playing on TV. His parents were so sweet, it was unreal. I learned that his father was joining the local fire department, and Mike was hoping to do the same. It was heartwarming.
Johnny's parents sat on the very end of the couch, sitting quietly. They mostly kept to themselves. It was just how they were. They were really sweet though when they talked of course.
Lastly was Taya's parents and her siblings. Her parents sat on the floor, play fighting with each other like Johnny and Taya had been doing, but actually messing around unlike my two friends. Taya's little brother was also on the floor with Mike and Andrew. Mike was good with kids. Taya's older brothers Gordie and Chris were playing on the Wii in the next room, shouting at the top pf their lungs. It was funny.
I walked into the living room, grabbing everyone's attention.
"What do you guys have in mind to drink?" I sweetly asked.
"Pepsi!" Taya roughly shouted as she rolled over Johnny on the floor, punching his side as hard as she could.
"Coke!" Johnny yelled, wincing as the girl's fist made impact with his side. I playfully rolled my eyes. Mike got up from the floor and walked over to me.
"I help you," He smiled at me. Not going to lie, the boy looked super nice tonight. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. I returned the smile and nodded my head.
"Yeah, thank you," I grinned. The both of us turned and headed to the kitchen.
"Wait!" Taya's mom shouted. Mike and I both stopped in our tracks and turned around.
"Yeah?" I asked her. She started to laugh. I glanced at Mike confused. He looked down at me with red cheeks. I sent him a confused look, gazing up at his tall figure. I furrowed my eyebrows, "are you okay?" I asked him.
He stayed silent. I could hear giggling behind us, so I looked over. I saw my step mom and my dad still cuddling, smiling wide at Mike and I. Taya suddenly stopped wrestling Johnny on the floor, also looking at the two of us, smiles on their faces.
"Hey genius," Johnny spoke up, "who's bright idea was it to put up a mistletoe this Christmas?"
My cheeks turned a bright shade of red. I slowly looked above me to see that the mistletoe was hanging above Mike and I. I held my breath as my cheeks flushed, slowly looking back at Mike. Derek did this.
We stared at each other in shock for awhile, the two of us being as awkward as ever. But when I heard someone goran, I looked over.
"Just kiss already, dammit!" My step mom yelled. I let out a nervous laugh and shifted my gaze down to my feet. I glanced back up at Mike who was already smiling at me.
"Yeah, come on!" His mother agreed. I felt my eyes soften.
Mike took a small step closer to me. I felt butterflies in my stomach. I was so nervous. My first kiss. With Mike freaking Vitar. In front of everyone I care about. I started to shake. I gulped nervously.
"C-can I?" He stuttered, nervous as well. I couldn't hold my smile back. I nodded my head in awe.
Mike placed his warm hand on my cheek, his other arm snaking around my wait. My heart started to pound as I got closer to him. He rested his forehead against mine. I could feel his hot breath on mine which caused even more butterflies. This was it. I couldn't believe it.
I pressed my lips against his slowly, immediately feeling sparks fly. Our lips started to move in synch gently. I felt my knees become weaker by every second.
The room erupted in cheers. I felt Mike smile. I pulled away her kept my forehead again his, staring at his pearly white teeth which caused me to smile even more.
That was amazing. Truly. He kissed me like he meant it. Was I that girl he liked that he mentioned the other day? Did this boy like me too? Was I living my dream?
"Hey.., can we walk later?" He asked me. We both pulled away from each other. I smiled at him like an idiot. I nodded my head.
"Of course," I grinned and bit my lip. He let out a small laugh while shaking his head. His cheeks were still red. I knew mine were.
"It worked!" I heard Derek shout, "I told you, Maggie! I told you!"
I rolled my eyes at my brother. I gently grabbed ahold of Mike's hand and dragged him back to the kitchen with me.
Merry Christmas to me.
