Trigger Warnings/themes: OOC Levi(?), strong language, maybe angst, sexual tension
You hated waking up early in the mornings and hearing that you had meetings with other rich people made you hate it more. Being a countess was hard in Elizabethian times, especially when men see women as less than them. How presumptuous.
"My lady, you've slept in. I expected you to at least awake by now." Your butler commented as he clicked his tongue. You peeked at him from beneath the covers and immediately noticed something different about him.
"Did you...did you do your hair?" You emerged from the covers.
He raised an eyebrow at you and finished tying the curtains back. "You're very observant this morning."
You rolled your eyes at him as you climbed out of bed and towards the washroom. Levi may be your butler, but you didn't need him for everything. Your parents insisted that when you moved out you must have at least one butler to run the household because of you, being a lady and all. It was all very unfair and you told them you could look after yourself but they insisted. So, you found Levi and offered him a job. To spite your parents, you never bothered to employ a handmaiden.
Today you had a scheduled meeting with a lady who has recently taken over a major printing company. You, being the heir to the biggest publication company in the business, you were interested in making friends. She goes by the name Sasha Braus, and from her description, she seemed like someone you'd get along with. You just hoped she isn't a person who would abuse her power.
"I have always been observant." You huffed and continued your morning routine. "You just never notice me being observant."
Levi, picking out your clothes for the day, clicked his tongue again and waited for you to finish before approaching you to change your clothes. For the first time, while he changed you, you felt self-conscious. Why did he do his hair differently today? Was it because he wants to impress Sasha today? What makes Sasha a better candidate?
Hold on.
Candidate? You can't date Levi! He's born in a high-class family or anything. He is literally a servant of yours! Why are you thinking like this?
"For breakfast, I have prepared a honeyed berry yoghurt, pumpkin seed toast with bacon and scrambled eggs as well as freshly squeezed orange juice. You need to keep your vitamin intake up, you've been burning up a lot lately. Even now."
His last comment made you blush a little more.
"Whatever. When's the meeting?" You adjusted the bow he tied around your neck.
"At eleven. I will prepare morning tea." He stepped back and bowed. You turned to your dressing table and waved him away.
You could feel his hesitation before he bowed again and left the room. You turned to your reflection in the mirror and sighed. Why were you suddenly acting like this? You assumed and made up everything in your head from just SEEING him with a different hairdo. Were you stressed about this meeting? Surely not. You've gone through thousands of meetings.
You looked at the outfit Levi had dressed you in. it was definitely an outfit you liked- especially with the amount of lace detail on your top and the frills of your skirt. Even your sleeves were frilly. You matched a pair of pearl earrings and a diamond choker to complete the look. As you were contemplating your behaviour, Levi reemerged with your breakfast on a tray and set it on your bed.
"If you don't eat it all, I'll be very angry." He gave you a look before disappearing again.
Your jaw dropped and you spluttered a comeback but he was long gone before you recovered yourself. What the hell was that?
