Molten insect monster.

You had sailed with a friend over to Dragon Roost Island from Windfall to start your careers as apprentice mail sorters. You honestly just hated the idea of spending the entirety of your life on one isolated island. The people were dull and never minded their own business. It had really gotten to you and BF/N.

The Ritos were very kind and accepting of the two of you. They had you sorting mail straight away and you knew that this was the place for you. Even if you weren't a Rito, you still felt like you belonged here. Your friend had gotten homesick the first week and returned to his/her mother at Windfall. You were pretty bummed out at first, but you realised that it was going to happen sooner or later.

After a couple of weeks of smooth sailing the great Valoo had started to become dangerous. He roared and slit fire at random and he seemed to be in pain. The chieftain of the Rito tribe had summoned a meeting with everybody on the Aerie. He wanted a person to volunteer to help Valoo and discover what had happened to the great spirit of fire.

You knew that if Valoo wasn't calmed down then none of the fledgling Ritos would be able to obtain a scale from him, and they wouldn't claim the ability to grow wings and mature into adults. You realised just what it was you had to do, seeing as nobody else would step up and do the right thing.

"I will soothe Valoo." You piped up in the room of arguing and angry Ritos. The chief seemed hesitant to allow you to take the task of something so important. After all, this was the Spirit of Fire himself, anything could go wrong.

He silently nodded his head and you gulped as you realised just how big of an issue you had gotten yourself into. You turned your back to the stunned group and walked silently into your room. You packed some essentials and you made sure to bring a small instrument known to your people as an ocarina. It wasn't made to the public anymore, it was passed down the line of your family to you. Nobody seemed to remember the ocarina, but you knew that certain songs had the capability to heal and soothe angry souls.

With that in mind, you began the dangerous trek to the top of the great mountain that towered over the small island. It was dangerous, but you had your heart set on finding out just what happened to Valoo.

Many lava-filled twists and turns later you made it to the top of the precipice. Valoo was screeching bloody murder and before you could whip out your trusty ocarina you came to the realization that his long tail was stuck in a crack below his nest! It seemed that something was tormenting him just below your feet.

You were determined to find out what it was. Assuring Valoo that you were going to fix his problem you descended down into the mountain by using a grappling hook you packed for your journey into the nuisance's lair. You were already sweating from the intense heat and the expansive pool of lava before you didn't help the situation. You held your knees together and slid down your rope. Making sure to be wary of the lava pit.

You swung yourself over to a cooled magma landing and grunted as you landed on your feet. Wrapping the coils of rope on your arm and tucking it neatly in your bag. Not even a second later, a monstrous creature exploded from the depths of the pit and towered over you, dripping lava and clicking it's vicious pincers together.

It's one massive eye stared glowing into yours. You froze and sweat poured down your back. You were suddenly very aware of the fact that you didn't bring any weapons with you, and you felt completely and utterly hopeless. It growled and hissed at you and prepared to lunge when you quickly pulled out your ocarina and began to play a simple tune.

The creature paused mid lunge and listened to your song. It was short, yet sweet, and you knew it by heart. It was a song passed down to you from your mother and her mother's mother. It was a song that was used to heal and repair the soul. Something to calm even the most hostile of creatures. The molten insectoid came closer to you and cooed gently as you finished your tune.

"I'm glad you l-liked it." You shakily said. Overjoyed you hadn't been eaten yet. The centipede cocked its head side to side as if it was trying to figure you out. You stepped back afraid it might attack you and was surprised when it held out its claw for you to touch. You flinched at its movement but eased into feeling it's smooth arm.

You felt like it wasn't going to hurt you. The song must've broken it's connection with the thing that had been controlling it. The creature leaned forward until you could see your reflection in its eye. You could read what was in that humongous orb. It told you that it liked you, and that it didn't want you to ever leave it.
"I, I guess I figured out why Valoo was so upset. You had been messing with his tail, if you could just leave him alone, I'd really appreciate it." You said with as much conviction and emotion as possible to convince it. It must've understood your words, because it used it's cooled off claw to tuck Valoo's tail back into the crevice and pushed it out of the crater.

You could hear Valoo sigh in relief and you couldn't help but let out a sigh yourself.

"Now, to get back to the Ritos." You thought as the creature retracted its claw and began to crawl slowly out of its pit. The lava slid off its back and it's many legs slithered towards you. You began to breathe heavily and scooted away from the monster. It however didn't seem bothered and leaned down for you to sit on its head.

"Do.. Do you want me to ride on top of you?" The centipede nodded and gazed into your eyes with its singular one. You could almost call its expression a happy one. You hesitantly climbed onto the crook of its neck and head and it began to crawl upwards and out of its lava filled room.

You were given a tour of the inside of the cavernous regions of Dragon Roost Island. It was quite beautiful if you thought about it. You remembered the name of the creature from an old tale that your friend Medli had told you when you first arrived at Dragon Roost.

Gohma was her name, and she had taken a liking to you, and you couldn't help but feel the same way. Eventually, when the tour was over, she crawled into an expansive room with many crystals inside. It was the only relatively cold room inside the entire dungeon, and you were grateful for the temperature change. Gohma set you down and you slid off her back and down into the center of the room. Gohma curled her massive body around you and enveloped you in a strange if not welcome hug.

You weren't expecting this outcome from the whole situation, but you didn't mind it in the slightest.

Hope you guys enjoyed this one. I always liked Gohma and her incarnations in the Zelda universe. Honestly if you haven't played any of the games please play these three when you have the chance:

1) majoras mask
2) wind waker
3) twilight princess

They will change your life.
