Chapter 56

Hunter POV

"Everybody get up!" My Dad yells. There are some groans but everyone wakes up.

"Be in the training room in a half hour!" He yells.

I get up and throw on a black shirt, black sports shorts, and black sneakers. I brush my teeth and wait for my group of friends.

Sky is sitting on the bed, but everyone else is ready to go.

"Go ahead guys. We'll catch up." I tell them. I walk over to Sky and sit next to her. "What's up?"

"I'm just nervous." Sky says. Then she looks at me. "Hunt? Can I tell you a secret?"

"Of course! You can trust me with anything." I say.

"I- I'm divergent." She whispers.

"Me to!" I whisper back.

She looks at me. "Really? What were your results?"

"Dauntless and Abnegation." I tell her.

"I got Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity, and Erudite." She whispers.

"Wow!" I say. I check the time. "We should get going or else we might be late."

We stand up and she laughs. I give her a questioning look.

"We are matching!" She says.

She is wearing a black shirt and black shorts like mine, but hers are high waisted and shorter. She has her hair in a ponytail and she is also wearing black converse.

I laugh. Then we jog to the training room, getting there just in time.

"Welcome initiates!" My mom says. "Today, we will be teaching you how to use knives and guns."

"First, we will be showing you how to shoot a gun. I will demonstrate and then we will pair you up, Dauntless born with transfer, so that you can help each other out." Dad says. He grabs a gun and stands in front of it. I memorize his stance and he shoots the gun a few times, hitting the center of the target. There are some gasps but I smile.

"Everyone grab a gun! You will be shooting for a little bit and then we will tell you the pairings." Mom says.

I grab a gun and start shooting, hitting the center most of the time.

Sky POV

After about 20 minutes of shooting, Mom and Dad stop us.

"Alright guys, we will be pairing you up now. You will be paired up with this person to practice for the rest of stage one." Dad says.

"Here are the pairings." Mom says as she hangs up a dry-erase board with names on it.

Hunter and Lilly
Sky and Talulah
Justin and Sophie
Lili and Leo
Ella and Tyler
Cleo and Ally
Dereck and Selena
Nikki and Evan
Sal and Dustin
Max and Jenny

I pair up with Talulah!

"Yay!" She squeals as she comes over.

I laugh. "How about you shoot, and I'll help, and then I shoot and you help?"

"Ok." She smiles and we get started.

After giving each other helpful tips, Talulah and I stop training when Dad dismisses us for lunch.

We meet up with our friends and sit at our usual table, which is right near our parent's table.

"So how do you guys think you did?" I ask as I put ketchup, lettuce, tomato, and cheese on my burger.

"I hope I did well." Lila laughs.

"You did great! You were helping me more then I was helping you!" Leo laughs and reassures her.

"I was looking around, and you all did awesome!" Ella says. She is the optimistic one in our group.

"Thanks El." I say.

We talk and laugh and eat for an hour until my Dad calls us back to the training room.

We walk in and see that he has set up the room for knife throwing. My favorite.

I see my mom standing in the middle of the room, twirling a knife in her fingers.

"Alright initiates! Now we will teach you to throw knives. I am going to demonstrate, then you will work individually and after that, you will pair up with your partner from before." Mom says.

She grabs 3 knives and throws them, each one hits the center of the target.

"Tris," Dad smirks. "How about we show them a little act of bravery?"

"Fine." Mom smiles as she runs up to the target and stands in the middle.

Huh?

My Dad grabs 3 knives and gets ready to throw. I gasp and look at Hunter, who is just as shocked as I am.

He throws one and it hits near her side. He throws another and it lands right above her hear. He throws the last one and it grazes her ear, causing it to bleed.

"Every single time!" Mom laughs as she pulls her hand away from her ear and examines the blood.

Dad laughs. "Alright everyone! Get to work!"

We all split up, grab some knives, get infront of a target, and start throwing.

I hit the center almost every time. If I didn't hit the center, I hit the cirlce right outside of it.

After helping Talulah, Mom and Dad release us for the night.

Once all of our friends meet up in the Pit, we decide to go shopping because we need new clothes. Even the boys.

We decide to split up, boys and girls, so now it is me, Lila, Talulah, and Ella.

We go into a bunch of stores and I buy a pair of high top converse with studded sides, a cute black romper, and some training clothes.

After a long day, we head back to the dorms to go to sleep.

I give Justin a goodnight hug (we haven't had our first kiss yet) and I crawl into bed.

I wrap myself in blankets and sleep surrounds me.
