I knock on my best friend's door, waiting for him to answer.

"Lara!" Ryland exclaims, grinning widely, making butterflies erupt in my stomach.

"Hey Ry," I smile as he pulls me into the house. "What are we doing today?"

Ryland always has something fun planned.

He smirks slightly. "Follow me." He takes my hand, causing sparks to erupt from the place his fingers are touching.

We walk up to his and Ross' shared room, then he lays me down on his bed, hovering over me.

"Tickle monster!" He yells, making me gasp in surprise as his hands start wiggling around my sides.

"S-stop!" I manage to say through uncontrollable giggles.

After awhile, Ryland's face somehow gets closer to mine. We both slowly and carefully lean in, but then Ryland abruptly pulls back.

"S-sorry," he mumbles, climbing off me, sitting on the edge of his bed.

I sit beside him, looking down at my lap, playing with my hands.

What just happened? Did Ryland alomost kissme?! Oh my gosh. I've wanted that to happen for ages.

-- a week later --

Ever since that day Ryland and I almost kissed, he's been acting weird. Distant.

"What's up?" I ask finally. "You've been acting all distant, Ry."

Ryland turns toward me, and before I know what's happening, his lips are on mine. His hands cup my face as I kiss back, but we pull away after a few minutes.

"I love you," Ryland breathes out, searching my eyes for a response.

"I-I love you too, Ryland." I say.

Smiles make their way on both of faces.

"Would it be okay if I k-kissed you again?" He asks.

I giggle. "What do you think?"

Ryland just smiles at me, still cupping my face, then leaning down to place his back on mine.
