{Aurora's POV}

I watched the leaves on the trees blow softly as I stood on the balcony in Jackson's room.

Everything to me seemed... fake.

My life... my mom... everything was never as it seemed.

I gripped the railing tightly watching my knuckles turn white. I hated this. I hated feeling so out of place.

Everything I once knew was just ripped up and I was forced with new information I had to get a grip on once more. I bit my tongue as I felt tears build up. I didn't want myself to feel this way. I should be happy, after all, my mother is alive.

Why didn't she come for me? Why didn't she try harder?

A tear dropped down my cheek and I angrily wiped it away.

I felt a hand lay softly on my shoulder and the familiar touch made a sob rip through me.

"I'm so sorry, Aurora." My mother said pulling me into her arms.

"Why?" I sobbed.

"I tried." She croaked out.

"I thought you were dead." She added and I closed my eyes tightly.

"Why did you never tell me about my true life?" I asked looking up at her with teary eyes.

"Like I said, it was better for you. I protected you from a sadistic man."

"And you left me with one just as menacing." I replied and she closed her eyes.

"Did he... hurt you when I was still with the both of you?" She asked and I looked away nodding.

"I never knew he acted that way towards you, or I would have booted him the first time I knew. You have to believe me. Why did you never tell me?" I just shrugged.

"Because you loved him, mom. Who was I to take that from you." I replied and she gently laid her hands on my cheeks.

"But you, my love, always come first. I'd give my life for you, over and over again." I could feel my lip quiver and I looked down trying to fight back the tears.

"Everything seems so foreign to me now."

"I know, and I promise I won't leave you again. Unless you won't have me." I was quick to meet her eyes.

No matter what she kept from me and no matter how much I wanted to feel some sort of rage towards her, I just couldn't.

"You're my mother. I could never let you go away again." A happy sob left her as she pulled me into her arms once again and in a tight hug.

"I'll make it up to you, I swear I will."

"Okay." I replied just embracing the moment.

"How about a dinner?" Jackson asked as we walked into his room from training.

"Dinner?" I asked as I pulled my hair into a pony tail .

"Yes, my mother and father would like to officially meet you. Your mother can join us as well. I would be nice to get familiar with one another, no?"

"I think that will be great." I said and a smile crossed his face as he walked over to me.

He wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me to his chest and I wrapped mine around his neck.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah." I winked.

Something crossed his features and he sighed.

"Aurora, you looked a little upset this morning... was everything okay?" He asked and I thought about it and slowly nodded.
