I moaned softly. "Is she gonna be allright?" I heard Kuwabara's voice ask. "It's hard to tell," another voice echoed in reply. I knew who that voice belonged to. It was Kurama's. But I wanted to be sure. For all I knew, the last Saint Beast was probably playing tricks on me.  "K...Kurama?" I called softly. "Kuwabara..?" I felt a hand place itself gently over mine. "Shh...We're right here," Kurama echoed in reply. "Don't worry, sis," Kuwabara said, stroking the back of my head. "The doctor will be here soon." I gasped. Doctor? Then does that mean...That I'm HOME?! I thought. There was only one way to know for sure. I groaned and clutched my head as I opened my eyes. Kuwabara gasped happily. "You're okay!!!" I nodded and when I tried to move, I cringed. For some reason I couldn't comprehend, my left arm was hanging limply by my side. "Wh...What happened to my arm?" I asked. Kurama bowed his head. "You fell on it shortly after the Cultivated Human knocked you out," he said. "Let's hope that it ain't broken," my brother said.

Then, the door swung open, and a grey haired man stepped inside. "Hello Ms. Kuwabara," he said, smiling. "I'm Dr. Maru. Can you tell me where it hurts?" "My left arm," I replied. "And my head." Dr. Maru picked up my left arm, causing me to wince and cry out in pain. "Just as I feared," he said. "It's broken. I'll put it in a sling later. But for now, I'm going to focus on your head." The doctor then began to tenderly touch every part of my head. At first, I felt nothing. But when Dr. Maru touched the back of my head, I cringed and yelled, "OW!!!!". "There's a bump," Dr. Maru said. "That could indicate a concussion." Then, he grabbed my uninjured wrist and began to take my pulse. "What's your name?" he asked. "Why?" I replied. "To see if you remember," Kurama said. "You see, you've taken quite a few blows to the head recently, so you might have a concussion." I understood immediately what Kurama meant. During the battle with the Saint Beasts, I'd taken exactly TWO blows to the back of my head, so there was a very high possibility of me losing my memories. "Ammara Kuwabara," I said. "Age?" "I'm 14," I replied. "I turn 15 in three days. I attend school at Sarayashki Jr. High. Siblings: Shizuru and Kazuma Kuwabara. Anything else you need to know?" Dr. Maru smiled. "No need," he replied. "If you can remember all of that, then you haven't sustained a concussion."

I sighed, along with my brother and Kurama. Then, Dr. Maru  bandaged my arm and put a sling over my right shoulder. "That should do it," he said. "Get plenty of rest, understand?" I nodded, and Dr. Maru left. When I heard his car drive away, I turned to Kurama. "What happened after I was knocked out?" I asked. "After you hit the ground, both Kuwabara and Hiei killed your assailant," Kurama replied. "What about Yusuke?" I asked. "He managed to defeat Suzaku, but not before sustaining terrible injuries." I gasped. "So then Yusuke's..?!" Kurama shook his head. "Far from it," he replied. "Yusuke managed to stay alive, thanks to Kuwabara's Spirit Energy." I sighed. "Good to know," I replied. Then, there was a flash of black and white as Hiei teleported into my room. I gasped and jumped back. "Dammit, Hiei!!! Don't scare me like that!!!" Hiei scowled. "Hello to you too," he said. I turned to Kuwabara. "Kuwa, do ya think you could get me some water? My throat's dry from screamin' my head off." Kuwabara nodded and walked into the kitchen. "Allright Hiei, spill it," I said. "Why are you here?"  Hiei looked my body over. "What's the verdict?" "A broken arm and a lump on the head," I replied. "Why are you acting concerned all of a sudden?"

Hiei scowled. "Don't think I'm doing this out of the kindness of my heart," he replied. "You just came by to fight Yusuke, then?" I said, smirking. "I don't buy that!" Hiei growled and drew his sword. "How'd you like your throat SLIT?!" I smirked and stood on the bed. "Bring it! Even with one arm out of commission, I can still kick your ass!!!" Hiei raised his sword and I balled up my fist. Kurama stepped between us and grabbed the hilt of Hiei's sword and my wrist. "Now now, you two," he said calmly. "There's no reason for you to be fighting." Hiei growled and disappeared. I growled. "What's up with him?! All I was sayin' was that I think he was checking up on me!" I said angrily. "Stupid son of a...!" Then, Kuwabara entered the room. "What the hell are you doing up?!" he asked angrily. "You still hafta rest! Come here!" Then, my brother proceeded to scoop me in his arms and placed me on the bed. "Hey!!! I feel FINE, Kuwabara! Stop worrying so much!!!" I said. "That sling says differently!!!" Kuwabara said angrily. I growled and Kurama placed his hand on my right shoulder. "Kuwabara's right," he said. "You must rest." I sighed in defeat and sunk my head into the pillow.

Kuwabara began to walk to the door and I, knowing that I hurt his feelings, turned to him. "Kuwabara!!!" I called. He turned. "Yeah?"  "I'm sorry," I replied. "I understand that you were only looking out for me. Forgive me?" Kuwabara smiled and nodded. "Yeah. 'Night sis," he said. "Goodnight." Then my brother closed the door, leaving Kurama and I alone. "I suppose I should be going too," Kurama said. He stood, and I gently clasped his wrist. "Wait!" Kurama turned. "Stay with me," I said. "Please?" Kurama smiled, grabbed a chair from my desk across the room and placed it next to my bed. "Allright," he said, plopping into it. I smiled. "Thank you," I said. Kurama nodded. "Now rest," he replied, gently stroking my face. I sighed and closed my eyes. I tossed and turned for a few hours, then sighed as I opened my eyes. "Kurama?"  "Hmm?" he replied. "I can't get to sleep," I said, rubbing my eyes. "Will you sing to me?" Kurama chuckled. "Unfortunately, singing isn't exactly my forte," he said. "Then will you hum me something?" Kurama nodded and slid the chair closer to my bed.

He cleared his throat and afterwards, began to hum softly. As I listened to his humming, I noticed that it sounded gentle and soothing. As if Kurama were trying to comfort me. My eyes slowly began to droop until they closed, and finally, I was able to enter sleep. My dreams showed my friends, my brother, and I on a beach. We were smiling and playing in the waves. "Gotcha!" Keiko yelled, splashing Yusuke and Kuwabara. They retaliated by picking Keiko up and tackling her into the water. Kurama and I laughed and joined in. Everything was going wonderful. Then, there was a flash of silver. I looked down and gasped as I saw that there was blood in the water. Then I noticed that Kurama, Kuwabara, and the others were lying on top of each other and were covered in blood. No! I thought, my eyes wide. Who could've done this?! I heard an evil laugh and turned to see Hiei standing on the sand, blood staining his tunic and sword. I gasped. "Hiei?! But...Why?!" I said, my eyes wide. He simply smirked and walked up to me, his sword raised. "No! Don't do this, Hiei!!!" I begged. "You're not a bad guy!!! I know you're not!!!!!" I backed myself into a rock and Hiei aimed his sword at my heart. "NOOOO!!!!" I yelled.

I gasped and sat bolt upright, sweat mixing with the tears on my face. I felt arms wrap around me and I opened my eyes and saw Kurama holding me. "Kurama..!" I said. "Shh...Everything is allright," he said. I cried to my heart's content in Kurama's arms until I finally calmed down. "Was it the nightmares?" Kurama asked. I panted and nodded. "Tell me what happened." I sighed and explained about how Hiei stabbed everyone that I cared greatly about. "I see," Kurama said, closing his eyes. "I'm frightened, Kurama," I said, tears streaming down my face. "Wh...What my nightmare actually happens?!" Kurama held me closer to him and stroked my back soothingly. "Shh," he said gently. "Everything's going to be okay..." I snuggled deeper into Kurama's embrace and sighed. "Now tell me...Do you really believe in your heart that Hiei would betray us?" he said calmly. I sighed and shook my head. "No." Kurama smiled. "Exactly," he replied. "Things aren't always as they seem." I smiled, then winced. Kurama picked me up bridal style and gently placed me on my bed. "Now get some rest," he said. "You're going to need it."

I nodded as my head sunk into the pillow. "Hey Kurama?" I said. "Yes?" "Will you lay down with me? At least until I fall asleep?" I asked. "Please?!" Kurama didn't say a word. He simply lifted the covers and wrapped his arms around me. "Is this any better?" I sighed and snuggled deeper into Kurama's embrace. I yawned. "Kurama?" I said, closing my eyes. "Hmm?" he replied, his breath warming my skin. "I love you," I said. Kurama gasped, then smiled. "I love you too," he replied. "R...Really?" I asked, yawning. "F...For how long?" "Ever since you first came into my life. That's why I comforted you before the battle with Genbu," Kurama said. "Now go to sleep. And when you wake again, I'll be here." I yawned again and my eyes began to droop. "Y...You promise?" Kurama nodded. "I promise," he replied. Then, Kurama hummed me another lullaby. After a few seconds, my eyes slowly slid shut and I  finally entered a dreamless sleep.
