I stretched and yawned as I woke. Seeing Kurama was still asleep, I smiled. He hasn't left my side since I was injured... I thought as I covered him again. I walked into the livingroom of the hotel and smiled. Since we had won our final match of the first round, we earned a brief rest. I looked out the window to see the sun shining through it. It was a beautiful day, and I wasn't about to spend it indoors. I quickly dressed and walked outside, where I heard a crash and saw my brother get knocked backward. I turned to see none other than Luna standing over him, her scythe raised.
I smiled a little. "Let me guess...He was fllirting with you?" She nodded, angry beyond belief. "Next time you try something like that, I'll make sure you don't live to tell the tale! Get me?!" Kuwabara nodded, scared out of his mind. And who could blame him?! Luna was AWESOME! I turned to her and put a hand on her shoulder gently. She flinched, as if my touch burned her. I smiled. "Cool it, Luna," I said calmly. " Hey, I've got an idea! Let's do something together!" She looked shocked for a moment, as if processing my words. Her eyes narrowed as she shrugged away from me roughly, pushing me into my brother.
"Who do you think you are, huh?! Standing here, pretending to be all goody-goody with me! Well I know what you humans are really like! You're all the same! Judging what you don't understand, not even sparing people like me a passing glance! You can pull your goody-two-shoes act all you want, but I refuse to fall for it!!!!!!" Then, without another word, Luna left. I sighed. I didn't understand! What did I do wrong?! Did I hurt her in some way? Or was she just doing this because she hated me? Tears flooded at my eyes as my brother hugged me.
"Don't let what that girl said get to you, sis," he said, gently rubbing my back. "She doesn't know a damn thing about you." I smiled a bit. Whenever I was upset, I could always count on Kuwabara to cheer me up. "You're right. I'll just give her time. That may be what she needs." Kuwabara scowled. "That's not what I-" "Hey look, there's Yusuke!" I said, not even bothering to hear what he had to say next. Kuwabara seemed to forget as well, because he turned to Yusuke and scowled angrily. "Hey, there you are, punk! Ya know ya could've left me a NOTE or something! You think I LIKE being stuck up there with that bandaged-up weirdo?!" I tuned them out and sighed. I wonder why Luna shuts people out like she does...It's as if she feels...Alone in the world.
"She does," Hiei informed me, a sad look on his face. "What do you mean?" I asked. He sighed. "Let's just say she's been through more than you humans could even imagine," he replied. My eyes widened. "Tell me! Why does she shut people out? Why does she think all humans are out to get her? Please, tell me, Hiei!" Hiei shook his head. "No. I may know, but it's not my business to tell." "But-!" I protested. Hiei held up a hand, cutting me off. "But nothing!" he yelled, scowling. "If you really want to know, ask her yourself. Don't go behind her back asking people she trusts. Gain that trust yourself."
Without another word, Hiei disappeared. I sighed and turned back to my brother and Yusuke. "Anyway, Urameshi, don't you think we should have some sort of team meeting or something? I'm worried about the next fight!" Kuwabara said. "Calm down Kuwabara. I'm sure everything will be alright!" I said, smiling. "I don't think so...I don't even know where Hiei and Kurama went!" My heart dropped into my stomach. "What do you mean!?" I asked, my eyes wide. "Where are they?!" He shrugged. "I just said I didn't know! But I could've sworn I heard them leave the hotel before the sun came up."
Tears filled my eyes. Could Kurama and Hiei have abandoned us because we were too weak? I shook that thought away. No! Hiei might be that heartless, but Kurama is NOT! I thought, trying to keep the tears in my eyes at bay. Yusuke and Kuwabara noticed and immediately tried calming me. "I'm sure they're fine!" Kuwabara assured me. "For once, the idiot has a point," a voice said calmly from the trees. I looked up to see Luna. "L...Luna?" I said, tears still falling. "Kurama is too soft to leave his girlfriend behind," she said, looking straight at me. "So suck it up and quit crying."
