Class was going on as usual, the teacher explaining the lesson as everyone listened carefully. Even the strawberry blonde was quietly taking down important notes as the teacher continues to lecture the class.
"(L/n)-san, can you read the next paragraph for me?" The mention of the name perks up the boy's attention, turning his head a bit to glance at the girl with bandages around her eyes. "Yes." You softly spoke as you stand up, many students in the classroom turn to you with a mischievous smile, waiting for their daily entertainment.
Your fingers touch the pages softly as they move, but you felt nothing. You couldn't feel the braille language that was supposed to help you read the lesson. After a few seconds of silence, the teacher asks you in confusion. "What's wrong?"
"Sir, I can't feel the braille on this book." He walks towards your desk and sees that it's a normal textbook, hearing a few snickers from the other students at the prank they pulled. This wasn't the first time your books were switched. "How many times have I told you all not to do this?! Shameless!"
The teacher scolds for the umpteenth time at the class, though it was very clear that they weren't going to change. You just stood there, feeling not only the teacher's but another sympathetic look. Asano was staring at you with worry in his vermillion orbs, the first time he ever cared for someone.
You were just as good as Asano in academics, so you never really cared much about the treatment. You didn't know why you were still working hard when you can't see, you just studied hard. You'd always bag one of the top 3 spots all the time, sometimes being tied with Asano for the first ranking, which sparked his interest since the start of high school.
The bell rings, signaling everyone that it's time for the lunch break. The students greet their teacher goodbye before he leaves the classroom. You take your seat and take your bag from the side, about to open it when it was suddenly snatched from you.
"Over here!" The girls who usually bully you kept your schoolbag out of your reach, earning a lot of laughs from the other students. Only the big Five didn't laugh along with them, and Asano has had enough of this. For the first time, he wasn't going to watch anymore of this and stepped up for you.
He grabs your schoolbag from the girls before sending a glare to the three of them, making them flinch in fear. "Stop this or you'll be sorry." He warned before keeping the bag on your desk. "Your bag is on the desk, (l/n)-san. They won't bother you anymore."
"Thank you, Asano-kun." You thanked him with a slight bow before opening your bag to take out your lunchbox. Just in time, the door opens to reveal your cousin to the class, fear creeping up to the students as the devil is quickly on your side.
"What are you doing with my cousin, Asano-kun?" Karma spoke up with a smirk, slightly glaring at the other boy. "It's okay, Karma. He stepped up for me today." You tug his sleeve and spoke up, making the redhead look at you in surprise before shrugging it off.
"Let's go, (Y/n)." You nodded as you take out your walking stick and walk with Karma to the school rooftop, leaving the other students to whisper about the two. "That Akabane always take her away during lunch break. Way to ruin our fun."
