Chapter 14

*3rd Person POV*

"You were kinda harsh with her you know" Kogami said as he puffed on his cigarette. Ginoza shrugged and said "Who cares, we have a job to do let's get it done." Everyone looked at each other at the tone of his voice as they silently went to complete their work. Kogami then broke the silence by saying "Did you know that Y/N was a mercenary 6 years ago? She was trained in an underground base to kill with out remorse and to ignore her own feelings. She was constantly hired out to kill people for the information they had."

He took another puff off of his cigarette before continuing "Even though she's technically one of us, because of who she used to be she views herself beneath each and every single one of us. She think's she's a dog to be handed around without any regard's of her own thoughts and feelings. So when she refused you the night she returned was the first time she was ever allowed to express her opinion and do something for herself. You want her but because of who she is, she was trained that loyalty to ones cause was more important than what you felt. So you purposely ignoring her is like continually kicking your opponent when she's already down. Plus you're with another woman, just pick one already, because she's made it clear that you can't have both."

"How do you know all this?" Tsunemori asked quietly. "She told me herself yesterday while we spared in the gym. If you don't believe me go watch the footage yourself" Kogami said as he leaned back in his chair. Silently everyone continued they're work while Ginoza stared at the paper on his desk.

*Reader's POV*

I woke up in the middle of the night to a knock on my door. I slowly got out of bed and made my way to the door. When I opened it I saw Ginoza standing there, we stared each other for a few minutes until he cleared his throat and said "I apologized for my behavior earlier. I never considered the reason behind your refusal, and tried to hurt you in return." I sleepily rubbed my eyes and leaned against the door-frame before asking "What are you doing still here it's after midnight, shouldn't you be at home taking care of Dime?" "I wanted to apologize" he said gruffly looking away.

"And you did that, but why are you still here?" I asked softly. "Did you tell Anna anything yet?" he suddenly asked. "No I haven't she's still sleeping. Why would you care?" I said with a raised brow. He coughed into his hand and said "If the offer still stands I'd like to help you take Anna to school in the morning...I could bring Dime along with me and we could drop him back off afterwards." I narrowed my gaze and said "And what brought along this change?" He shifted nervously and said "After you left Kogami brought it to my attention that you had been a mercenary at one point in your life; and may have told us his thoughts on how you felt."

"School starts at 6:30 be here at 5, I'll fix breakfast before we leave" I said before shutting the door in his face. I pressed my back against the door and closed my eyes as I heard him sigh and walk away, when his footsteps faded I opened my eyes and went back to bed. I woke up once again to a sound of knocks on my door and yawned as I got up out of bed to open the door. Immediately my eyes rested on a familiar tan and white Siberian husky. I smiled as I fell to my knees in front of him and carefully reached out towards him. He allowed me to scratch his ears as he tried to lick my face.

I looked up and met Ginoza's gaze and said "He's as handsome as you Ginoza. He was a gift from your grandmother right?" Ginoza nodded and leaned against the door frame as I continued to pet Dime. "From your memories it seems like he resembles Shinya Kogami quite a bit. Quite a handful if I remember correctly" I said with a soft chuckle as Dime nudged me over to fall on my butt to lick my face again. "I named him after the first coin in my collection" Ginoza said as he held out a hand towards me. I took it and he helped me up only for us to fall when Dime pushed against the back of Ginoza's legs.

Ginoza landed on top of me as his glasses slid off his face to land on the floor beside my head. His hair tickled my face as our eyes met with out the glasses getting in the way. I lost my breath at the look in his eyes and bit my lip when he didn't make a move to get up. His eyes dilated as he leaned forward our noses touching. I swallowed before saying "Dime, does he nudge people often when he's hungry?" Ginoza blinked at the question before nodding and slowly got up. I remained on the floor and he held out a hand towards me. Carefully I declined and got up on my own picking up his glasses and handing them to him.

He took them and I motioned him to come on in, immediately we both noticed Dime innocently sitting on the floor by the kitchen. I shut the door quietly behind him and made my way towards the kitchen to fix breakfast and make Anna's lunch. "What time does she wake up?" Ginoza asked as he sat on the couch watching me. "Anna gets up at 5:30, she eats and gets dressed before 6 that's when the officers come by to take her to school" I replied as I skillfully completed both tasks. I closed her lunch box, and then pulled out 3 plates and a bowl. "Since I don't have any dog food handy would it be ok to share breakfast with him?" I asked meeting Ginoza's gaze.

Ginoza nodded and slowly stood up to grab the glasses while I went to the fridge to grab the orange juice. As he filled each glass I made the plates and filled another bowl with water and placed it beside the other bowl on the floor. Immediately Dime made a beeline towards the food and I laughed. Anna entered the room rubbing her eyes and then stared at Ginoza who was handling the glasses. "Good morning Anna, Inspector Ginoza agreed to drive us. I offered him breakfast in return. He brought Dime with him since he thought you'd like to meet him" I said with a smile as Dime slowly made his way towards her.

Anna eyed us cautiously before patting him on the head and making her way towards the table. We all ate in silence, and when we were done Ginoza offered to do the dishes while we both got dressed. When we came out it was time to leave the apartment that was provided for each Enforcer. We reached the school and after kissing Anna good bye I handed her, her lunch and waved good bye as she rushed towards the school. Ginoza and I were about to leave when a woman approached saying "You brought your Inspector here how could you? And they say Enforcer's aren't allowed in public how disgraceful."

"Actually Miss L/N isn't an Enforcer, she is a civilian helping us with our cases. She handles the information in our Division, I thought with her being so busy the last few months that it would be a small treat on my part to take her daughter to school. Now I would like you to apologize to her before you leave" Ginoza said stepping in front of me and scolding the woman. The woman spluttered an apology before stomping away. Ginoza walked me to the car then got into the drivers seat and took off towards his apartment to drop Dime off.
