AN. Okay! I've gone full nerd and started started watching Naruto. Best fucking show ever by the way. Anyway, here it is! Gaara of the Dessert × Naruto Uzumaki!
Naruto stood in front of everyone else as Sakura checked Gaara for any signs of life. Any chance to save him. Fire stood just behind him, knowing what the answer was going to be.
"Sakura..." Naruto asked, a pleading tone to his voice. The pink haired medical ninja removed her hands from Gaara's chest and shook her head.
The ten tailed beast bowed her head while Naruto's shoulders started to shake. He grit his teeth as tears streamed down his face.
"It's always Gaara...why Gaara?" He asked hoarsely, hiccuping lightly as Fire placed a comforting hand on shoulder.
"He was the Kazekage! He just became the Kazekage! He can't just die like this..." The blonde fumed.
Lady Chio looked up at the young shinobi's back, "Calm yourself, Naruto Uzumaki."
He immediately spun around and growled, "Shut the hell up!" The woman saw his tears, as did everyone else, and fell silent.
"It's all your fault! You sand nin did this to Gaara!" He yelled, his voice cracking. "Did you even think of how Gaara felt!? Did you even ask?!" The old woman's head bowed and guilt practically radiated off of her. A bitter sweet taste for the darkness bringer, but...
"Naruto, it's not worth it." Fire said softly, her ears falling back.
That only seemed to encourage him though, "You label us and treat us as lesser than you! What gives you the right to label us Jinchuuriki!? What gave you the right to choose our fate!?" The blue eyed teen glanced over at his friend.
"What gives you the right to call Fire a monster even after she's helped you!? Every time you chase her away and try to kill her! What did she do to you?!" He practically screamed.
Fire felt her breath get caught in her throat for a moment before she shouted, "Enough, Naruto! I don't want their fucking pity!"
On the inside, the wolf girl felt herself crumble, if only he knew what'd I'd done...I don't even deserve their pity.
The blonde ignored her and started sobbing, using his forearm to try and wipe his tears. The wolf girl looked at Gaara's lifeless form and fell to her knees at his side, clenching her fists.
Sakura gazed at them, sadness in her eyes, 'Naruto...Fire...'
"I couldn't save Sasuke...I couldn't save Gaara..." The ninja choked out.
"I've trained so hard for three years...nothing has changed..."
Kakashi closed his visible eye while the others hung their heads slightly.
Fire's fists clenched tighter, "What are we to you?" Her whispered question caught everyone's attention.
"Are we just tools for you to throw away? Is that why none of you are over here or crying with us? Or are you afraid to get too close?" No one except Naruto could see, but her eyes blazed red as tears streamed down her face. "Is this how you're going to react when we meet our end?"
No one said a word and Naruto seemed to cry harder and get more outraged.
After a long moment, Fire sighed, "I could bring him back..." She took in a shaky breath, "A tailed beast's power could bring him back, but that would mean..."
She licked her lips in apprehension, "That would mean...I wouldn't be able to go back to the Leaf Village with you."
The blonde looked slightly horrified at the idea, but also like he was weighing his opinions. Her ears slowly went down as did her head when the silence stretched out. Shakily, she raised her hand to rest it on the red head's stomach, ready to be locked away in a cage for the rest of her life.
Lady Chio looked at the both of them before walking past Naruto and sitting down next to Fire, smacking the wolf girl's hand away.
She slowly placed her hands on Gaara and a blue light glowed around her. The wolf girl bared her teeth at the pure chakra energy, but otherwise didn't react.
The blonde turned around to look at what she was doing, "Hey! What are you doing?! Why don't you just-"
"Naruto." Fire said firmly. "Stop."
Naruto looked confused, but heard Sakura gasp, "That jutsu..."
The woman's hands glowed a strong blue for several moments before she faltered, "Not enough chakra."
The blue eyed teen looked at the poor old hag and walked over to the other side of Gaara.
Naruto got down on his knees and held out his hands to her, "Take my chakra. Take as much as you need to save Gaara."
The woman looked at him in shock before she smiled, "Put your hands over top of mine." The blonde readily did what she said, causing the blue glow to intensify.
Fire looked at them, hesitating for a moment before carefully putting one of her hands over top of Naruto's right hand. The blue glow darkened as silvery black was added to the mix.
Fire flinched but didn't remove her hand, "Us outcasts have to stick together, I suppose."
Lady Chio looked at them and her smile softened, "You two really do have a gift." She whispered while they looked at her curiously.
"I'm glad that I could do at least one good thing in my life. I'm also glad that there are souls like you around to help make things better."
Fire's ears pressed to her head and more tears trickled down her face, "You shouldn't be glad I exist, Lady Chio."
The woman sighed, "You are the embodiment of a lot of dark power, Fire Wolf. You are allowed to make mistakes."
The wolf girl's hand tensed and pressed down more, "Not that big..." Her eyes flitted toward where the seal for the nine tailed beast would be on Naruto's stomach. Chio caught the glance, but didn't know what to think of it.
"It was my fault. My best friend..." she trailed off when the old sand nin fell backward and took her final breath. Then, slowly, Gaara stirred and Naruto helped him sit up while Fire's hand fell to her side.
Light jade eyes were wide in wonder when he saw the blonde standing there with a relieved expression.
"Gaara..." He whispered, squeezing the man's shoulder before pulling him in a short hug.
Fire painted on a smile as she brought one knee up, resting her chin on it, "Welcome back to the land of the living Sandman."
The red head glared at her, clearly not as amused as she was.
People piled in and made sure that Gaara was okay. All of them relieved when they found out that he was, in fact, alive and mostly well.
Fire frowned faintly, suddenly remembering that she'd lent some of her chakra to Chio and remembering what the result of that would no doubt be.
The wolf girl walked up to the Kazekage and put a hand on his shoulder, "Well, it seems that you can call me whenever you want now. Free of charge too."
Gaara looked at her with a furrowed brow so she explained, "I gave up some of my chakra to bring you back. That means my seal is on you, but it's different than other ones I've had to place. For one it's only going to be visible to me. The second things is that this one connects me to you like I'm connected to Naruto, at a lesser extent of course."
A burning sensation ran up the arm that hadn't been marked by Naruto's seal. She hissed and pulled back her jacket. Sure enough, on her upper arm was the same tattoo Gaara had on his forehead.
"Looks like we'll be seeing each other more often." Fire said cheerfully. The red head snorted lightly.
Naruto nudged his shoulder and hugged him tight, "I'm glad you're okay."
The 10 tailed beast watched with fond amusement when Gaara hesitatantly returned the hug and relaxed in the blonde's embrace.
'That's so cute!' She internally jumped around in excitement. 'I ship it so fucking much!'
